Former President Donald Trump said he told Ashli Babbitt's family members "there must be justice" regarding the shooting death of the Air Force veteran during the Jan. 6 Capitol assault.
Babbitt was shot by an unidentified Capitol Police officer as she tried to breach a door leading to the Speaker's Lobby while members of Congress were being evacuated during the attack.
"I spoke to the wonderful mother and devoted husband of Ashli Babbitt, who was murdered at the hands of someone who should never have pulled the trigger of his gun," Trump said in (statement) on Wednesday.

The Babbit family is being quite in hopes of a settlement. Honestly don’t blame them and it’s up to someone else to name the murder. Perhaps the capitol police officers who recently committed suicide were going to do this?
There is no justice in this country anymore.
President Trump is finally stepping up on this. Mitch? Kevin? Anything to add? Didn’t think so.
When I attended the Trump rally in Phoenix three weeks ago, Ashli Babbitt’s parents were wildly cheered as they were brought onto the stage.
Nice meme.
White America will apparently have to be pushed to “No Justice, No Peace!”
Some blacks currently think that they can kill whites indiscriminately, and they are right.
The perp could have easily shot the other capitol police behind Ashli. This wasn’t far at all from a blue on blue incident.
We’ll never have justice as long as assistant Democrats run the GOP House and Senate.
It may mean a different type of “justice”
DJT was still president when this went down. Why didn’t he have someone investigate it then? Why did he not issue blanket pardons for non-violent protestors at capitol?
Excellent questions. As I remember Trump was quite derisive of those inside the Capitol in the immediate aftermath. That would have included Ashley Babbitt.

The brave law enforcement officers who defended the Capitol & Congress on January 6th deserve our deep gratitude and full support.
Note for federal investigative agencies: the former president continues to use the same type of language he knows provoked violence in the past.
She's trying to sic the feds on him.
What a classy dame.
I don't remember that at all. He was quite sympathetic and supportive of those at the Capitol. He spoke out against violence but made it clear he believed it was Antifa infiltrators who were responsible for that.
There is NO statute of limitations on Murder, A New Administration can Absolutely Prosecute him
We don’t even know if the Deep State cremated Babbitt. According to Judicial Watch, the request went out only two days after her murder.
“As I remember Trump was quite derisive of those inside the Capitol in the immediate aftermath. That would have included Ashley Babbitt.”
I remember no such thing, not even close, and I follow the news closely from all sides.
And what did he say about the murder of Ashley Babbitt when it happened?
I found the comments from Trump that made me say he was derisive of the protesters.
Please watch first minute of this video:
Jan. 7. The day after the riot, the White House released another video in which Trump read from scripted remarks.
“I would like to begin by addressing the heinous attack on the United States Capitol,” he said. “Like all Americans, I am outraged by the violence, lawlessness and mayhem. I immediately deployed the National Guard and federal law enforcement to secure the building and expel the intruders.” “America is, and must always be, a nation of law and order. The demonstrators who infiltrated the Capitol have defiled the seat of American democracy.
At that point Trump, too, was listening to the distorted reports that the main stream media were pumping out. He didn’t have the benefit that we had of watching on TV in real time, as we did, what actually was happening among the people lined up in an orderly fashion and being directed in by guards in orderly fashion. Trump did not know at that point that there was at least one busload of Leftist operatives who had been instructed to dress like Trump supporters to to stir up trouble and insight physical response from law enforcement - all for the cameras. Only those at home, who had themselves been outraged and crushed emotionally by Pence’s failure to do what only he could and should have done, could be impressed at the orderliness of the behavior of those who waited to enter the U.S. Capitol building - a public building. It did not take long for Trump to get the full picture of how the public had been manipulated to believe a false narrative.
