I think that government considers them illegal alien invaders.
Then those people were tested with SARS2 (Covid) and were immune to that as well. The two viruses have 22% different genomes but are otherwise the same.
“Variants” average about 1% difference from Covid, so there’s no need to fear them or be vaccinated for them.
The rise in Covid among the vaccinated is actually harm caused by the vaccine being passed off as 'variants'. Having another shot will only sicken and kill more people.
Those who have had Covid, or other related Corona viruses (most of us have done so) are immune, despite what the CDC says.
There are two wings to the immune system and Big Pharma is focusing on ‘active antibodies’ as if that is an accurate indicator of immunity. It actually means ‘activated immunity’, when you may have immunity but haven’t been exposed in so long you don’t have the antibodies.

If this holds up it’s a VERY stark difference. I’m guessing it’s because Moderna “got lucky” on the coronavirus’ epitopes its vaccine attacks and Pfizer was less lucky. I know a substantial amount of work studying this subject has been ongoing.

The first stat (People Vaccinated, First Shot: 431,000) is in the section under “In the 24 hours since the last report:” - it is just the most recent one day’s worth of first shots.
Then the next (not so clearly marked grouping) shows how the the cumulative total to date has changed, over the report’s last 24 hour period (% Total Population with at least a First Shot: 59.1% (up 0.2))
I am reporting day to day swings, for early warning of any changes to trends. At first production deliveries were an issue (which I no longer report, as we are in surplus), then tracking the vaccinated totals toward herd immunity. Now it is of particular interest to track the Delta wave, looking for the peak (which I hope we will see in two weeks or less, if we follow the UK or Indonesian curves).

It is likely (as 2aProtectsTheRest has been mentioning), that future boosters will be tailored to the variants.
Once full approval is given (likely in a matter of several weeks), the is a rapid process for the manufacturer to modify the vaccine - as is done for the annual flu shot.
With mRNA technology is even easier to rapidly develop and produce modifications, than those pre-existing approaches.

I have been posting the CDC numbers, because they are the authoritative source for the data with the US Government, and for consistency, for the sake of comparison.
But lot’s of folks have concerns about politicization of their reports (definitely their recommendations, like masking).

The two main takeaways for me are the government’s utter failure to push the use of home rapid-test to mute transmission and why a nasal vaccine is needed to stop transmission of a repository virus as infectious as the Indian variant.

Thailand is starting human trials of a COVID nasal vaccine, after promising results in mice. It could be ready for use in the middle of next year, if things go well.
Dang, that’s still a year away. Better than nothing I suppose.
In the meantime, I hope the CDC gets a clue and finally starts emphasizing the use of rapid test kits for home use. Seems like something we could have been doing for a year now and inexplicably didn’t.

That’s a takeaway for me as well. We led the world under the Trump Administration, and we have drifted aimlessly since the new administration took over, with not a single significant adaptation since (such as nasal vaccines or at home rapid tests).
Thank God that so much momentum had already been locked in by Operation Warp Speed, or we would be in the same boat as the Third world, with these political hacks running things. All they focus on are politics, race, plundering the Treasury, consolidating their power and filling their pockets.
