No, the Unvaccinated Aren't Selfish or Ignorant. Here's Why I'm not Vaxxed | Opinion
Newsweek / MSN ^ | 8-10-2021 | Suri Kinzbrunner

I'm not vaccinated against COVID-19. The decision wasn't a drastic one; I thought of it as a personal decision that every person should make in consultation with a trusted health professional... It didn't occur to me that this decision merited justification to others. But that was before the current climate of social and political pressure, before the Delta surge, and before unvaccinated people like me started getting blamed for vaccine-resistant variants. Now I feel that explaining my decision has become necessary.

In explaining my decision, my hope is not to convince people to change their minds about whether to vaccinate but rather to help others understand why some may choose differently.

Let me start by saying that I agree that the COVID-19 vaccine is an important tool in reducing the severity of cases, hospitalizations, and deaths due to COVID-19. In general, I am supportive of the availability and accessibility of safe, potentially life saving medications and preventative measures for anyone at risk of any serious illness. The more options when it comes to preventing and treating COVID-19, the better! But this does not mean that all options should necessarily be utilized by all people en masse, and this is how I arrived at my current decision to opt out of the vaccine.

The reported adverse events and risks of the authorized COVID-19 vaccines are rare, and most people don't seem to have any serious adverse reactions. But though rare, the risks are still real. Cardiac issues, blood clotting, stroke, and autoimmune disorders are all acknowledged adverse events that can occur as a result of the COVID-19 vaccine.

A colleague of my parents reportedly died from complications of the Moderna vaccine, a friend suffered from deep vein thrombosis, and a teenage nephew of another friend now has chronic cardiac issues.

The writer goes on to talk about mixed messages from public figures.

And she says she's pregnant and her doctors advised that she delay getting vaxxed.

I have a familial predisposition to blood clots and heart problems.
(Fathers side, basically everyone dies of heart attack.)
For me, it isn’t a good idea to toy with it.
But try finding a doc that listens in NY.

I thought about burning my vax card before the French actually did it. I’m 70, and would rather take a stand than live another 10 or 20 years. Don’t ask me to explain. Sometimes getting old feels like an epiphany; and sometimes you’re just tired.

I’m in a similar position. The decision should be ours to make for ourselves.

I wonder when this opinion is going to get pulled

Or perhaps it is the token differing of opinion so they can claim they are fair and balanced.

note that the author does not mention anyone in her circle who died of Covid. I think she might mention that if she knew of anyone.

I heard of one person my parents knew who at the beginning of the pandemic died with or maybe of covid, but nothing in the last year.

I just finished a 4 page referenced letter justifying our family’s decision to pass on the death-shot to be sent to our vaccinated family and friends who are now treating as unclean lepers. Have not heard back from any of them.

".... It didn't occur to me that this [very personal] decision merited justification to others....."

Bingo! It isn't anybody's business but my own.

My thought process was, why do I need to vaccinate against a disease that has a 99.8% survival rate even if I contract it. Seems a bit of overkill to me, pun intended.

Yeah, if you have a family history of say autoimmune and cardiac issues... Those potential side effects start looking a lot more significant than a virus you have a 99% (or more) chance of surviving. Having watched family members suffer the effects of the other ailments, I will take my chances with the virus. The vaccines are many, many times more dangerous to me.

Yeah, the media will likely memory hole the article.

Thanksgiving 2019 I was sick with a massive headache so bad my eyes couldn’t track together, lung crud, aches, lethargy.
The headache was unlike any I’d ever had, felt like a flaming freight train driving between my eyes and came on so suddenly my head snapped back as my eyes rolled in opposite directions.
Not hyperbole, I saw two different walls in opposite directions at the same time.
Which did “wonders” for my headache.
At that time, docs were talking about a “flu that didn’t act like a flu” that was going the rounds locally.
I never did go get tested, haven’t been curious enough to have the antibody test done either.

When swine flu went the rounds in 08 or so, I had that too.
Everyone at my job did.
That had been the prior record holder for worst headache.
Oddly, never had a fever beyond maybe a degree or two change?

My employer has graciously decided to tell us they haven’t decided if they will decide to decide if they want to step into the brambles of mandating, which means they’ll spring it on us in a weekend memo as they’re in a bar.

>>> I wonder when this opinion is going to get pulled

You have been here since 2001, and what you said here doesn’t make sense.

Please explain why your opinion on this would warrant being pulled by anyone.

Surely you have noticed by now that both extremes of position on this subject are heavily present on FR.

I have NO IDEA where any of the mods even stand on it, nor have I ever heard of someone’s position being censored as if this were twitter or facebook.

Am I wrong on this? Have I missed something?

RARELY have I seen anyone express a fear of getting their comments pulled on FR... even from those who turned into kitty food.

Cardiac issues run in my family too, I’ve had two family members die from blood clots. I took this into consideration when making the decision not to get the jab. I figure that my chances of making a full recovery from covid at around 99.5%. My chances with the covid vaccine are a big unknown.

I agree but we’re getting accusations of selfishness and recklessness which are based on complete lies. Today we were told we couldn’t come into our now vaccinated friends of ten years home because “80% of the people in the hospital are unvaccinated.” I had to tell them that the government defines “unvaccinated” as:

Everyone that didn’t get the shot, plus everyone that got only one shot, plus everybody that got two shots but hadn’t yet let two weeks go by before the antibodies kicked in.

So the reality is about 80% of Covid cases in the hospital are vaccinated to some degree.

If you had Covid, then you should have some immunity now.

I thought I had a mild case of it myself. But, I took the antibodies test, and my results were negative.

I don’t need my doctor’s advice on this, and wouldn’t listen to him anyway. He asked me six months ago, if I was planning on getting the vaccine, and I told him no. He asked me why, and I told him my various reasons. He never said another word. I have to see him again the end of September, and wonder if he will attempt to broach the subject again. I’ve got even more reasons to give him for not taking the shot.

I do not expect FR to pull this, I was asking if the msn is likely to bury it.

sorry if I were not more clear.

They’re wondering how long until the lamestream media labels it as misinformation and memory holes it.
Like they did with the articles on obama titled “Kenyan born senatorial hopeful”.

And hardly anybody mentions this virus is EASILY, SAFELY and EFFECTIVELY treated. These two doctors have treated over 6,000 C-19 patients, NO CASUALTIES and almost all stay at home.

Compare that to Murderer Fauci who said stay at home and when your lips turn blue, go to the ER.

If Fauci and his coconspirators had NOT hidden the fact that EARLY TREATMENT is very effective with commonly used, SAFE drugs, this would have NEVER been much more than a blip on the radar.

ARTICLE LISTING OTC PREVENTION USING COMMON SUPPLEMENTS AND PRESCRITION DRUGS TO TREAT THE CCP VIRUS

NOBODY should be vaccinated with their death jab because the virus is easily treated and cured.

Damned straight. And, whatever our decision is, we don’t owe anybody an explanation of why we decided as we did.

Should and if.
Two things I’m not keen to test either way.
Reason I don’t want to really know, two weeks after I was sick, my dad got sick.
Only he didn’t make it.
Doc listed his death as “copd related” on his death cert and listed him as a smoker.
Dad didn’t smoke.
