Only eight intensive care unit (ICU) beds were available in Arkansas on Monday, as COVID-19 cases increase in the state and nationwide due largely to the highly infectious delta variant.
Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) announced that 103 people were hospitalized in the state on Monday, marking the largest single-day increase in hospitalizations.
The state reported 995 new cases on Monday and 21 additional deaths, according to Hutchinson.

How many have Covid? Funny they don’t mention that in the article.

The state’s own CoupFlu dashboard says this story is BS.
Individual hospitals may be having a problem, but statewide capacity is not anywhere near maxed out.

ICU beds are money makers. They like to keep them full. If we were in a crisis there would be zero and they would be dealing with overflow patients.
But they’re not.

Arkansas’s CoupFlu dashboard doesn’t differentiate between hospitalized with or for.

Ventilator availability in Arkansas is even higher than ICU bed availability.
I’d like to see a detailed breakdown of who is in where with what.
Precisely.

Glad you looked it up. I'm calling BS on the article because I compared their numbers to my locality (Allegheny County/Pittsburgh).
Arkansas has more people than our metro region, and just Allegheny County has at least 338 ICU beds, so if Arkansas has 103 people HOSPITALIZED (and it looks like they're not saying how many are in ICU), then something's fishy.

“if Arkansas has 103 people HOSPITALIZED”
103 newly admitted?

I work in a facility space planning department for a large hospital. We just finished converting all the emergency covid projects back to their original states due to non-use. Now we did have a fair share in the ED and ICU but the powers that be decided to go a step further. Bed Towers, Entire 30-room wings set aside for Covid care. Shuffling non-covid patients around to make room. Multiple locations, over 150 rooms. 15 months later.... Like the USNS Comfort leaving New York Harbor. Not. One. Covid. Patient...

ICU beds are money makers. They like to keep them full. If we were in a crisis there would be zero and they would be dealing with overflow patients. Makes me wonder if there might be some nefarious person in a key (but low-profile) position who scans the daily numbers and then instructs the hospital administrators to "Fill those ICU beds - I don't care how trivial the cause! If they've got indigestion, say that it might be heart inflammation, and probably due to Covid! The main thing is to FILL THOSE BEDS!"

I think the article implied/said “103 hospitalized on Monday”…not the total hospitalized.

I am well aware of this, but while our normal human activities are being prohibited, the illegal vermin, vermin which includes anyone abetting the illegals entry and dispersal, have free reign.
