NBC’s ratings for the this year’s Olympic games in Tokyo crashed from what they were five years ago in Rio de Janeiro.
The network is giving advertisers extra commercials to make up for the low viewership. On many days throughout the 17-day spectacle, viewership of the games clocked in at roughly half of what it was for the games in 2016, according to the Associated Press.
NBC is Comcast
Most people’s interest in sports these days seems to be centered around gambling. Don’t need to watch the games to keep up with how your bets are doing.
Also, there are highlights posted on YouTube. I’ve gotten in the habit of just watching those without knowing the score beforehand.
We need to get those ratings down to zero.
We can do this!
Didn’t watch a minute.
Get Woke, go Broke.
They’ll blame it on the time differential.
I quit watching when Katie Couric and Bob Acosta felt compelled to explain why the United States wasn’t being booed at the opening ceremonies.
I don’t watch sports events to be lectured by stupid people. If those stupid people begin to understand that, I might start watching again.
The US won the Olympics, but lost the fans.
IMO, You ALL “Oppressed” yourselves by refusing to actually get an education with the FREE K-12 schools you were provided with.
ZERO sympathy here.
I trained for the Olympic decathlon for a decade, i’ve been to the Olympics 4x and yes- i watched the Olympics the past two weeks.
1- Couldn’t be happier about the ratings crash as NBC did it to themselves. Every promo they ran was about woman/black athletes/women/black athletes/etc/etc. It just did not stop.
2- I think the network was disappointed in the lack of “activism” and “protests” by American athletes- they were hoping for non stop protests.
3- The one in the picture is only American athlete who protested that i know of. NBC tried to make her a star- she won a bronze medal and it was interview after interview with her. The American woman who destroyed the competition and won the gold medal in the discus? They gave her 50 seconds of coverage.
I have watched very little of the games, but looking for something to watch last nite I tuned in to look at the closing ceremonies on TV.
I felt sorry for the Japanese.
They were making an attempt to have an “extravaganza” of celebration and entertainment. The atmosphere - with no fans in the huge stadium - made the attempt seem pathetic.
Thanks for the reminder.
Next stop, let's push the NFL and MLB along with ESPN into a whirling ratings descent vortex toward the molten center of the Earth.
The Golden Age of Professional Bowling Competition and Legendary Greats of Curling will have higher ratings.
They can kneel to BLM and Saint Floyd all they want without us.
Wait a minute - Don’t the Olympics itself promote competition, hard work, and nationalism? How come everyone doesn’t get a gold medal for participating? Why are there different countries? I thought we were all one world?
Bingo
Bingo
Bingo!.............
The absolute worst NFL game of every season, the Hall of Fame Game, beat the Olympics in prime time last Thursday. The game itself didn’t disappoint, it sucked.
ChiComcast.
“That’s a shame.”
The Perkster was on the case?
I just threw up in my mouth a little.
Saint Floyd won the gold for holding his breath the longest.
Why does Puerto Rico get a separate listing from the USA?................
