U.S. Senate candidate Gary Black won the endorsements of one-third of Georgia’s 159 sheriffs, giving the Republican an important network of local law enforcement support as he competes to challenge Democrat Raphael Warnock next year.
Black announced the 60 endorsements days after he told the Georgia Sheriffs Association he would fight “anti-cop rhetoric” in Washington: “I may not wear a gun or badge, but it’s going to be my job to make sure you can use both when necessary.”
The endorsements are the latest sign that the state’s Republican establishment is growing tired of waiting on Herschel Walker to decide on a run -- or unconvinced he would be a strong candidate even with Donald Trump’s support. The former football great, who has lived in Texas for decades, has repeatedly said he’s in no hurry to join the race.

Significant.
Raphael Warnock and the dems cheated once to “win”. What makes anybody think they won’t cheat again?!
Is this the Turtle’s candidate?
Told. Too ugly. Too white. Democrats will counter with their victimology rant. Been known to work but not always. As for Walker where’s the fire in the belly. He’s more of a Trump ornament these days.
Walker was warned by a couple of Republican senators in the last couple of weeks not to run. That may be why he is delaying declaring.
I wonder who the establishment wants to run. Perhaps Kelly L? idk. I agree the optics of this guy is not very good.
If Walker doesn’t want to run he should perhaps endorse someone and become a kingmaker. Elective politics isn’t for everyone.
Two-thirds of Georgia’s sheriffs don't back Gary Black’s Senate bid
Gary Black is white . He is going to get in trouble for cultural appropriation
I’ll be blunt. A White candidate can’t beat Warnock—period.
Georgia is 31% Black.
When not a Black candidate on the ticket, they tend to be apathetic. When there is a Black candidate, they come out in droves. They don’t vote party or best candidate, they vote Black.
Stacy Abrams came within a hair of winning the governorship in 2018.
Jason Carter (the Democrat 2014 white candidate) lost by 8%.
Yes, I know the Dems cheated in 2020, but the fact is GA has been moving blue for a while. Cobb, Fulton (above the river), and Gwinnett counties (Atlanta’s north suburbs & three of the most populous areas in the state) were once red. They are now blue, thanks to people moving in from out of state (and they are still coming).
Unless the GOP can find a way to pull some of the Black vote this go round, Warnock will be reelected. No doubt about it.
And the only way to do that is to run a Black candidate.
Good info
Concur. Don’t like it, but concur with your observations. Cobb County, formerly electing McDonald and Newt Gingrich and even Bob Barr, sunk into a democrat hell of racist democrat county commission head, racist democrat election supervisor, racist democrat sheriff.
What’s your take?
Mine is, all statewide races (Senators and Presidentials) will be cheated away from now on.
Congressional races will be much harder to steal. You don’t end up counting the votes in State Farm Arena, where overflowing toilets cause vote counting cessations.
Only true for black men. Black women vote Democrat, PERIOD. They will vote for an old white man with a D next to his name over a black woman with an R. And black women turn out. Black men do not.
Black's Life Matters?
I don't think anyone wants to prevent police from using deadly force when necessary. It's the rare occasions when deadly force is used when it isn't necessary that cause all the headlines.
Herschel needs to stay in Texas.
The Dems in GA will cheat again. That’s why we cannot move forward with 2022 until 2020 is fixed.
Warnock, on the hand, enjoys the “endorsement” of vote counters.
By the way 60 Sheriffs is 38% of the state. Not 1/3.
