The horsewhip I had in mind was the thinner, more flexible mid-length whip you might see used by someone driving a team of horses. No mere crop, but not the weight nor length of a bullwhip, that sort of whip, sometimes called a “blacksnake whip” turned to a martial weapon DOES deal damage. Handled well it can bruise, cut, and even claim an eye. These are even marketed as weapons in lengths ranging from 2-6ft.
