The Senate moved to advance President Biden’s $1.2 trillion infrastructure package on Saturday, clearing a key procedural hurdle to end debate and clear the bill.
The 67 – 23 vote to invoke cloture beat back GOP efforts to filibuster the bill. A total of 18 Republicans voted with every Democrat to advance the bipartisan measure.
The vote takes the bill one step closer to final passage which could come as early as Saturday afternoon. Among the Republicans voting in favor to advance the bill was Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell.
“Republicans and Democrats have radically different visions these days, but both those visions include physical infrastructure that works for all of our citizens,” he said in remarks just before the cloture vote.
The bill now proceeds into an amendment process, which the Republican leader warned needed to be thorough.
“There are many outstanding amendments that are important that would improve the legislation, and deserve votes before the Senate is asked to vote on final passage of the bill,” McConnell said.

Republicans and Democrats have radically different visions these days ...
ROTFL. Ok, well, they are all hallucinating legitimacy, so there is that.
Big day for bipartisan infrastructure bill.
America is in desperate need of real infrastructure improvements and the Senate needs to prove to the country that it can still get big things done.— Lindsey Graham (@LindseyGrahamSC) August 7, 2021
We were all taken to the cleaners with these scum retched GOP rats
So 1.2 T in the senate, is that the same bill that came in through the House?
Are we gonna get cleaned in a reconciliation?
As I understand, the House has not yet taken up this bill.
But after they pass their version of it, if there are differences with the Senate bill, it would have to go to the conference committee, then back to each house to vote on for final passage.
I keep hearing there is a $3.5 trillion bill in the pipeline too, but for some reason, the Democrats decided to deal with this $1.2 trillion bill first.
And apparently nobody is concerned about trillions in deficit spending, or a national debt approaching $30 trillion.
Trashy Turtle. Jerk.
The Democrats need the cover of this bipartisan “infrastructure” bill for their country killing reconciliation bill and EVERY Republican voting for it KNOWS it.
Time to study history and choose.
Are we going to relive the hyperinflation of Germany, Zimbabwe, Yugoslavia, and Venezuela?
Or are we going to relive our own past under President Lincoln?
Neither option will be pretty.
‘
The Republicans Love Joe.
Nancy says this turns into $4.5 Trillion (for Blue Cities).
People won’t wake up, they refuse to believe the obvious.
‘
So they voted communist
Just keep voting.
As if it matters.
Article V.
“President Biden sounded a note of urgency in advance of the Saturday vote, saying in a tweet that the deal was “a historic, once-in-a-generation investment in our nation’s infrastructure” and that “It will create good-paying, union jobs”
Taking care of the unions again eh Joe?
Why do we even have a Republican Party?
