Tell me, if what you’re saying is true, why does the CDC have Gibraltar as a VERY HIGH LEVEL OF COVID? Why is it telling others to avoid travel there?
Because CDC’s policy recommendations are determined by political appointees who don’t necessarily do what makes the most sense. It took them a year to acknowledge that outdoor spread of COVID-19 is virtually non-existent in their mask recommendations. It was literally over a year since all the scientific literature concluded that outdoor spread basically never happens before CDC lifted a finger to update their guidance on outdoor activities and masking. Yet when one small study indicated there may be some unknown level of risk of vaccinated persons spreading the Delta variant if they become infected, suddenly CDC says fully vaccinated people need to mask up indoors. Looking at the non-peer review study they based that off of makes you really shake your head, since the study itself listed numerous confounding factors for their data.
Long story short, CDC is fine when they’re just compiling the data given to them by the states. And that’s most of the data they publish. But their policy recommendations are often idiotic at best and don’t really follow the published literature very well. If you look at Gibraltar objectively, it’s one of the safest places on Earth to travel from a COVID-19 perspective.
