I read yesterday that he was upset because he was washed out of Navy Seal training.

That's some major damage. Anybody know what his punishment will be, besides a DD?

This POS is going to prison for a very long time.

If he was diagnosed as bipolar by the Navy and was not in the process of being discharged, somebody screwed up. If he was diagnosed as bipolar and the recruiter knew, someone should be screwed but won’t be. Don’t believe for one moment a recruiter would not still put him in if he could. I dealt with a handful of people whose mental capacity was severely diminished before they entered the Navy. Once they make it to the fleet, the easiest way to get rid of them is general discharge not compatible with military service. But a diagnosis of bipolar should have been cause for a medical discharge. Bipolar should have been caught in basic and SEAL screening.

I had a Sailor whose own parents said they we’re stunned the Navy accepted him. Mother warned the recruiter. He made it through basic, his sea school and only had two years left on his contract when I got him. He did absolutely nothing to warrant a bad conduct discharge. Doctors refused to recommend a medical discharge. He was like a child, we had to assign people to make sure he showered daily. A senior enlisted made sure he never got orders to a ship and he spent his career mowing lawns. The VA took over his mental health care when he was discharged. Once they make it to the fleet, except in rare cases, taxpayers now own their medical care for life. That period in the Navy was about as normal as his life would ever be. I gave his recruiters name to BUPERS, his command was notified, but he claimed plausible deniability.
