LA City Council To Consider Requiring COVID Vaccinations For Indoor Dining, Movie Theaters, Concerts, Gyms

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – Two Los Angeles City councilmembers have introduced a motion that would require people to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination in order to enter certain indoor public spaces.

“We know now that even with vaccination we can get sick so I have to protect my staff,” said Stephanie Domalain, general manager of the Hill Street restaurant.

Under the motion introduced by Council President Nury Martinez and Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell Wednesday, people who have to show proof of having received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine in order to dine indoors in restaurants or bars, or to visit gyms, concert venues, movie theaters, stadiums and retailers.

“Enough is enough already,” Martinez said in a statement. “Hospital workers are exhausted, moms who have put aside their careers are tired, and our kids cannot afford the loss of another school year. We have three vaccines that work and are readily available, so what’s it going to take? Our kids are about to return to school and the unvaccinated are putting their lives at risk every day. Ask your questions, talk to your doctor, and get the vaccine. Let’s put this behind us.”

New York City approved a similar law Tuesday.

“Even just suggesting that will hopefully incentivize a lot more people to get vaccinated,” said Carmen Llerena, a restaurant administrator. This comes as L.A. County sees a major spike in coronavirus cases over the last several weeks brought on by the highly contagious Delta variant. COVID-19 hospitalizations have nearly quadrupled in the last month, with 1,138 coronavirus patients hospitalized countywide as of Tuesday.

L.A. County recorded 2,293 new cases Tuesday as well.

From Jan. 1 through June 30, 99.8% of the people who have died from COVID-19 in L.A. County were unvaccinated or only partially vaccinated, L.A. County Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer has previously reported.

In mid-July, L.A. County resumed the requirement that masks be worn indoors regardless of vaccination status.

“True but will we start shooting over it? Will there be any “civil disobedience”? My answer is NO on both. “

Go back to your pig farm and suck your mommy’s teats, Soros troll.

Well, I’m kind of in the same boat. Was glad to get the Moderna shot when it was available, but don’t have any regrets.

But I will not be a party to enabling these vaccine passports. Thats just on its own merits, putting aside that these will never go away, and will in short order become part of a CCP style social credit system.

I really don’t have any good ideas about how to resist this, though. Maybe enough people can be inspired to just refuse this overreach, but that’s not the mood that seems to be prevailing in town though.

Don’t forget the ethnicity aspect. Different rates of vaccinations among different ethnic groups will cause de facto segregation if this is imposed.

Unvaccinated people are welcome to inhabit their basements indefinitely. They won’t be missed.

In my county the whites are 80% vaccinated and the blacks and Latinos are much lower. A city just south of me—majority white and Asian—is 90% vaccinated!

Marin claims to be the most vaccinated county in the country at this point.

And people are still wearing masks there.

How long until they decide they need a vax passport as well?

The cool thing about Marin is that they actually kept schools open more than most in CA last year. They seem to be a unique (but leftist) group. They won’t vaccinate with the MMR due to “autism” but will for covid. I think they will do anything for their kids which is great. And the teachers union is not as powerful as elsewhere in CA and the county health director is more sympathetic to the needs of students.

Or so they say. If the percentage of people taking the experimental treatments were that high, the Gestapo wouldn't be trying force others to take them.

The problem is that vaccinated people still spread the virus, so even if all the unvaccinated people hide in their basement, the vaccinated folks will still be spreading the disease all over the place.

But—some lessons are best learned the hard way.
