I wonder what woke people approved this design for a country whose flag is red, white, and blue? Lucky for us, the ribbons and medals are red, white and blue.

I agree but it should not be a tiny flag on a monochromatic uniform. Some countries that were once part of the British Empire have special colors for their national teams. For example, Australia uses green and yellow and New Zealand is all black.
