The mass transit buses are outside and adjacent to the parking lot.
The reporting is confusing, but it looks like the incident happened in the mass transit bus area—aboveground.

Depends on when you left. Once upon a time, the escalator went right into the building. Now it goes up to the side for a quick screen before you enter the building and swipe your badge.
