DHS Secretary Mayorkas: ‘Domestic Violent Extremism Is the Greatest Terrorist Related Threat We Face’

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said Monday on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” that “domestic violence extremism is the greatest terrorist-related threat we face on the homeland.”

Mitchell asked, “As a result of the January 6 attack, are you doing enough to identify extremists domestically?”

Mayorkas said, “We are very focused on this. This is one of our highest priorities. Domestic violence extremism is the greatest terrorist-related threat we face on the homeland. We have created the Center for Prevention Programs and Partnership in the Department. We have a task force dedicated to this effort. We’ve dedicated more than $77 million in grant funding to state, local, tribal, territorial authorities. We are doing so much to address this really grave threat.”

Mitchell said, “What are you doing to identify terrorists or extremists, extremist groups within the military, within the ranks of DHS as well, other government branches?”

Mayorkas said, “Well, Secretary Austin, the Secretary of the Department of Defense, is conducting an internal review within his department, and we are doing the same within our department. We are very focused on ensuring that our personnel uphold our values and represent the best of our nation. It’s our responsibility.”

I noticed in the document that among the many examples of domestic terrorism used, the government did not list the violent activities that occurred in Seattle, New York, Portland, and Minneapolis, but made repeated references to the militia movement which had its hay day in the 90’s. I do not think it takes much imagination to see how federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies can be weaponized against political opponents in a manner like the steps taken by the IRS against the Tea Party movement. Here is an example of 10 of at least 30 broad phrases I identified and modified.

Department of Homeland Security will introduce a new systematic approach for utilizing pertinent external, non–governmental analysis and information that will provide enhanced situational awareness of today’s domestic terrorism threat, in accord with factors defined by the political agenda.

developing strategies to provide enhanced training on domestic terrorism iconography, symbology, and phraseology, and information on how to recognize potential indicators of mobilization to domestic terrorism, in accord with the political agenda.

Continuing to enhance the domestic terrorism–related information offered to the private sector, especially the technology sector, will facilitate more robust efforts outside the government to counter terrorists’ abuse of Internet–based communications platforms, in accord with the political agenda.

Antifa and BLM have been at rioting and looting for several years. The destruction of property, take-over of buildings, creation of occupied lawless zones, burning, looting, and rioting have destroyed small businesses, government offices, resulted in deaths, and hundreds of millions of dollars in damage.

The "disturbance" on January 6, 2021, took place over a period of hours, after a peaceful rally by President Donald J. Trump.

Is Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas going to look into the role of the Democrat party, the FBI, Antifa, and BLM incitement to contribute to the disturbance? Or are they going to continue to pretend that 81 million Trump supporters are domestic terrorists?
