The United States military has confirmed that it carried out another airstrike against al-Shabab militants, its third in less than two weeks.
Sunday’s strike was in support of Somali government forces in the vicinity of Qeycad, in the central Galmudug state, according to the U.S. military.
The Somali government earlier reported the strike was in an area where federal and U.S.-trained forces were fighting the militants. There was no word on whether militants were injured or killed.
“This is another major blow to al-Shabab’s means to wage war against the Somali people,” a statement by the Information Ministry of Somalia said.
“The airstrikes destroyed a large al-Shabab firing position engaging Danab and SNA (Somali National Army) forces as they approached,” the statement added.
Danab or “lightning” are Somali commandos trained by the U.S.
Both the U.S. and Somali government said there were no civilian casualties.
Al-Shabab, however, said in a statement published online that government forces, supported by the United States, did not succeed in Sunday’s fighting.
Previous airstrikes took place July 20 and 23 in the same vicinity.
These are the first airstrikes against al-Shabab in Somalia since U.S. President Joe Biden took office in January.

We need photos of the aftermath of the air strikes. Anything that destroys Al Shahab is GOOD for us. They are an arm of ISIS/Al Qaeda now. That makes them a legitimate target in our war on these terrorist groups.
Also, it will make Omar and her Marxist, possible war criminal father, cry.
Our fight against what is oddly enough, Iranian backed Al-Shabaab (which is aligned with ISIS, which has played trade route disrupter, and dismembered/dismembered American, British, French, Somali, and Kenyan civilians, often enmass), has actually been going on since Clinton was our anti-American in chief.
Historically, we largely work against the Shabaabsters from Djibouti (to the North of Somalia), and Camp Simba on the Kenyan/Somali border to the South of Somalia. They actually wiped out a British coastal resort around the time I was there a few years ago. Stories are largely wiped from the internet.
DJ is our only formal Naval base in Africa, and the Chinese and Russians have now strategically built bases at the entrance to the Red Sea adjacent and near DJ/Camp Lemonnier.

From there, RUS and Kitai, have been heavily supplying the Houthi’s across the way in Yemen, from DJ (China), Eritrea and Ethiopia immediately to the North of US Naval Base, Camp Lemonnier, in DJ.
The goal is to break the Saudi (and what will soon be Israeli) energy lines/routes into the EU (largely through Italy), in favor of Nord Streams I and II, and RUS/Turk (turk-Streams) energy lines through the Black Sea from RUS.
