I think it’s too easy to bash her for some. Keyboard Warriors with special inside knowledge and all.
Personally, I don’t know what’s in Simone’s head.
I do know, and have known, some pretty high end athletes who were pressured throughout their careers by parents and coaches. When they burn out, they burn out in grand style.
I was a swim coach for many years, and knew a big swim family in Florida — generations of champion swimmers — the pressure got too much for one. Drugs, alcohol, and a freak accident destroyed his career and almost his life.
Enough already. She’s a kid.
Would you want YOUR kid going through this much scrutiny?
Again, we don’t know the real story — so a little grace would be nice here.
See post #35. She had no problem trying to intimidate the other competitors. Instead she fell on her own sword. History is replete with examples of people from all walks of life who thought they were invincible until they found out they weren't.
Paul Joseph Watson posted a video about Simone. If you watch it you will see that the issue isn't really about Simone failing. It's about the people who celebrate her failure and see it as a sign of courage, bullying into silence anyone who might think otherwise.
She’s 24. Hardly a kid.
She is NOT a "kid"! She is 24 years old. Many people have saved their country for SIX years by that age, doing dangerous, life threatening, and highly technical work the entire time (combat pilot? ordnance and bomb disposal?). This increased infantilization of modern adults has got to stop. You are not a child at 24. This is why liberals win, because so-called conservatives internalize the liberal's definitions and world-views. This woman is an adult professional (as in gymnastics is her proffesion), so stop treating her like she is a six year-old!
Shes a kid? Shes 24 years old!!! Thats not a kid.
