Walmart forcing all workers to mask up, managers to get vaxxed

Walmart is requiring workers in high risk areas to mask up — and will force all managers to get vaccinated by early October.

The mask mandate was announced Friday and immediately implemented. It applies to all store workers, regardless of vaccination status, in high risk COVID-19 counties, as determined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The new policy came three days after the CDC reversed its May mask guidance, calling on all people to wear face coverings indoors in the approximately two-thirds of the country where the deadly virus and its Delta variant are spreading rapidly.

Walmart, the nation’s largest retailer, had told vaccinated workers they could unmask in mid-May, after the CDC’s original edict.

Shoppers will be urged to wear masks in stores, but will not be forced to cover their faces, according to CNBC.

Yesterday at my local WalMart they were all bundled up around their faces like it was snowing outside...

Freedom of choice ends at the door of the private business. That being said, Walmart has to confirm to local regulations or shut down. It’s unfortunate.

If you have the right to carry a firearm in your state, exercise it. Conform to the laws of your municipality, but be prepared to exercise what few rights they’ve not yet started to trample. Many of us are likely to be put into a situation where our lives, our fortunes, our sacred honor will be threatened if not taken from us, but we’ve reached our society’s Hamburger Hill. This is a hill to die on. Let’s bear witness to the atrocities of historical tyrants and say, “Not now, not ever again.”

The masked people in stores and outside are becoming to me like NPCs in a game or simulation. I just go by or maneuver around them and sometimes hear sounds from them. They never really interfere with what I or other unmasked (real players) are doing. They are just part of the sim.

First they keep you 1 hour short of full time so you don’t get benefits, now they want to control your medical status.

What happens when someone has an adverse reaction to a mandated vaccination?

Ours had a masked gal at a table by the entrance, with a package of fresh masks, asking all the unmasked if they wanted a mask.
I just said, “Nope” and walked on by. I could tell a number took her up on it because they’re sheep at heart - but a lot were still breathing free.

Legislation is needed to make all masking voluntary — workers and customers alike. Penalties for required masking must be severe.

The Science must say managers are more likely to transmit to others. Because I’m sure Walmart wouldn’t make those rules without permission from The Science.

Ha ha. Indeed. What’s up with that odd rule?

Walmart employees should resist it. Make them fire you and then file a lawsuit for unlawful termination.

Good point. I'd be curious to know if Walmart or other corporations are asking employees to sign anything related to waivers or hold harmless agreements, etc.

They may just be saying to come back with proof of vaccination and leave it at that.

I went regional grocery store chain yesterday. They had a table with masks and a sign saying please take one. I ignored it and went on to shop. If the sign said masks required, I would have taken one. The next time I go back, I may have to wear one. Case numbers are running a bit high and may trigger the mitigation rules.
