"House Democrats can currently only afford three defections and still pass bills on their own without any support from Republicans. Democratic sources said Friday they were short by more than a dozen votes, which proved to be insurmountable despite more than a day of persuasion attempts by party leaders."

"Lawmakers expressed frustration that the $46.5 billion in rental aid allocated by Congress by pandemic relief measures is still largely unspent, with only $3 billion distributed to renters by state and local governments so far."

All the rest of the, "unspent" money has long gone to left wing front groups, cartels and communist activists (but I repeat myself).

I never understood how the CDC could legally ban evictions in the first place, but that’s just me. At some point, one would expect that this public health emergency will be declared to be over and done with.

a buddy owns a 20 unit building. been in his family since the 1920s..

15 units behind, 10 6+ months behind 3 units haven’t paid since the governor put the eviction moratorium in place.

he said he’d be screwed if he had anything more than utilities and taxes to pay.

the federal end doesn’t end Minnesota’s moratorium. So he will continue to suffer.

From an NBC report, “<Mad Max) Waters wants a vote, which would allow progressive activists to blame specific Democratic lawmakers for its failure, while Pelosi doesn’t want to expose some of her caucus members to the wrath of the base, according to the second aide.”

Same story from a number of LL’s I know. Some of them are scum BUT it’s not right for a tenant not to pay more than 10 months after January 2021. I mean, what’s your excuse?

A bud of mine runs a used car dealership and 95% of the repo guys wont do it last year bec, once it goes to court, covid becomes their argument. Skip to 2021 even a month ago, he hired the repo guys to go after his non paying lazy ass customers and they’re doing it with great results. Cops wont even stop them unlike last year. The court dockets are now back to normal so if they want to sue, he’s ready for them.

As my Dear Mother used to say, you help People who can’t help themselves, not People who won’t help themselves.

That being said, the Government (Federal, State, Local) has no power to issue a “Rent Moratorium” on privately owned dwellings. They are overruling established Contract Law which is blatantly Unconstitutional.

If only we had a fair and just SCOTUS who weren’t Cowards. Oh well.

If they choose to issue a Rent Moratorium on Property owned by the Federal Government, they can choose to do so. It’s a bit sticky considering WE THE PEOPLE “technically” own all the Federal Property since WE THE PEOPLE paid for it through our Taxes.

Hey everyone, let’s vote to take over private property rights.

We are one or two steps away from them just taking it all.

My mom has a 5 unit apartment building she runs with my aunt..luckily throughout the pandemic everyone paid their rent, even the few she thought would not..just recently rented a vacant unit, I went through each applicant with a fine tooth comb because with the way things are now, they can move in and just refuse to pay rent..but this lady is a call operator(A supervisor) she said she actually worked MORE during the pandemic so hopefully she will pay her rent when its due, crossing fingers

If only I were a well to do lawyer. I would sue the federal and state governments for every penny lost by landlords over this illegal and evil act. Unfortunately the politicians who do this stuff never have to answer for it with their own resources.

Tenants figure if the property owners didn’t like socialism then why did they open up rentals in the United States?
Welcome to America.

Great news! It’s sad when simply following the law is considered a win.
