The guide estimated he spent 40 seconds dodging the bear around the tree, until the bear grabbed him by the right side, and threw him to the ground.

I feel confident that in 40 seconds I could have freed my sidearm and emptied it into the bear.

Where do you live? Any elk nearby? You wouldn’t have to become proficient with archery equipment. Or even a camera. You could get a couple of elk calls pretty cheaply, and learn to use them. During the rut, you may call in a bull that is hell-bent on taking another bull’s cows, or go down fighting in the effort. You could see him reduce a 10 foot tree to splinters, in an effort to draw attention to himself and intimidate his opponent. He may come in bellowing and urinating on himself. He may get within spitting distance. But, no...you just go on belittling people that might find that sort of thing kind of adventurous.

And cow calls are a pretty good way to meet black bears, too, so you might wanna take your lucky ham.

Frankly, I think that people that delight in killing animals are in some way mentally ill. But that’s just my opinion. But if that’s what blows your skirt up though, why not just travel to some Country at war and be a mercenary, oh wait, then people would be shooting back at you.
