San Francisco's district attorney spoke out in apparent defense of a 'prolific' shoplifter who was filmed brazenly robbing a Walgreens store amid fierce criticism of the city's crime policies.

Chesa Boudin, district attorney since 2019, was asked about a viral video from June 19 showing the thief man heaping armfuls of Walgreens products into a trash bag, then riding his bike through the store with the stolen goods while the security guard and bystanders looked on.

The broad daylight theft happened at a Walgreens on 300 Gough Street, in the Hayes Valley area of San Francisco, on June 14.

Yes, she is and she is exactly what San Francisco deserves.

It is part of the whole reparations and Democrats and their supporters are above the law that governs the rest of society.

For a member of the bar to blame the store for shoplifting is something that someone should get disbarred for.

Hopefully karma will show up in her life very soon and help her to see the light.

She’s a beyotch, and a POS. Using her logic, any other POS, like her, can go into your house, and help themselves to whatever they want. After all, they are desperately in need, right? Let em try. What a total beyotch she is

If I never was poor and alone with no one to turn to for help...I might feel sorry for the perp...but I was and my first thought was not to steal.

Needless to say, with hard work and determination, I have managed to get to a “good place.”

Boudin, elected on an ultra-progressive ticket, said that perhaps Walgreens had a policy of not confronting shoplifters.

The security guard faced criticism online for failing to act, although some people said he did the right thing by making his presence known and filming him rather than confronting him physically.

'If Walgreens has insurance for certain goods or they expect a certain amount of loss, if they would rather not risk lawsuits or escalation to violence - then maybe that's something we should know about,' said Boudin.

So if the guard had shot the Tour de Walgreens winner, tossed his carcass into the street and restocked his Grinch-bag of stolen goods the prosecutor would have fully supported him, right? Or would the prosecutor have brought the full legal strength of the city down on Walgreens if the guard had said "Stop, or I shall tell you to stop a second time"?

Boudin said that official data showed that over-all theft was down from the previous year.

Maybe the citizens know that it just isn't worth the effort to even report shoplifting anymore. Stores might even be publicly shamed for recording and posting crime, like happened in this case

It’s O.K., Walgreens will eventually close that location. Similar actions will occur with Target, Superdrug, etc., ‘til there’s no stores left open. Voters making stupid choices should expect this. DAs refusing to enforce the law give rise to vigilantism and the violence increases. And you wondered how it would all end.

This strategy is basically what I’d call ‘Detroit-ize’ a neighborhood enough....that no commercial activity exists, and you wake up needing aspirin/toilet paper one day....instead of walking three minutes to get it....you drive six miles to get it.

If I were a Walgreens...I’d open a new operation with a window pick-up site....you order via the internet, and some kid bags everything for you to walk over and pick it up at the window. Keep the customers out of the store entirely.

Boudin is not a “woke” DA. He’s a hardcore Marxist just like his cops-killer father and mother, plus his Soviet-asset late uncle Leonard Boudin (identified CPUSA covert member).

He should be made to pay Walmart for all the items this thief stole and then fired for “malfeasance of office”, “dereliction of duty”, and “endangering the public’s safety”.

I a real world, he would have been shot as a traitor, not elected a DA.

I would also do that if I were in position to do so - after the business model studies were complete. I suspect that it wouldn't be profitable. Oh and it would have to be done in a manner that keeps employees physically separate from the “customers”.

Kinda like liquor stores do? But they've gotten heat for installing "racist" cages to protect their clerks from hold-up men.

If you add up what Walgreens is putting up with in SF...it has to be over $100k a day throughout the city that is being shoplifted via their shops alone...lifting the rates you have to charge for regular customers to make up for the losses.

Chesa is a man. The son of two terrorists, who were caught and imprisoned when he was a baby, raised by Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.

What’s sad is that the people of SF voted for this moron even despite the whole California democratic establishment being behind another candidate.

“Boudin is not a “woke” DA.”

True enough.
Following his parents conviction & sentencing for robbery & murder of three law enforcement officers, Chesa Boudin was legally adopted by weathermen Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn. Chicago residents, in later years Ayers & Dohrn reportedly materially aided in launching the political career of Barack Obama.
Boudin’s uncle, Michael Boudin is a federal judge currently in “senior status”. He has served as a federal judge on two levels; district court and court of appeals.
