This strategy is basically what I’d call ‘Detroit-ize’ a neighborhood enough....that no commercial activity exists, and you wake up needing aspirin/toilet paper one day....instead of walking three minutes to get it....you drive six miles to get it.
If I were a Walgreens...I’d open a new operation with a window pick-up site....you order via the internet, and some kid bags everything for you to walk over and pick it up at the window. Keep the customers out of the store entirely.
I would also do that if I were in position to do so - after the business model studies were complete. I suspect that it wouldn't be profitable. Oh and it would have to be done in a manner that keeps employees physically separate from the “customers”.
Kinda like liquor stores do? But they've gotten heat for installing "racist" cages to protect their clerks from hold-up men.
Regards,
That walk up idea is a good one

...and everything at that location would cost 10%-20% more than other stores. They’d complain about that too. Not that anyone sane would care.
