WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland on Thursday warned Texas Governor Greg Abbott to "immediately rescind" a new executive order aimed at curbing the travel into the state of undocumented immigrants who may pose a risk of transmitting COVID-19.
"The order violates federal law in numerous respects, and Texas cannot lawfully enforce the executive order against any federal official or private parties working with the United States," Garland told Abbott in a letter.
He added that if Texas continues to implement the ground restrictions on migrants, then the Justice Department will "pursue all appropriate legal remedies."

I predict that if Abbott stands firm, many states will join him. If he folds his future as Texas governor is over.
It is extremely difficult to sue the government, not to mention winning. I learned this early on in my activist days (early ninties).

What do we owe him for the 20 republican votes in favor of his successful appointment as AG? He could have controlled the vote of all but 6 or seven, if he had wanted to.
This begins the takeover of the the USA. There will not be any elections again. Socialism is here to stay.
I found myself thanking God for that during his hearings. What a twisted up little man. And he must be quite educated, but comes off as seriously dumb.

I hope he stands firm enough to see what in the heck they can actually do! Sue the State? For what? Arrest the Gov? Not gonna happen because it’ll make them look like thugs (even though they are). Send in troops... well, that would be a whole nother thing right there.

If the Feds really want to play the "invite the COVID-19 illegals in", let them go to their home countries and bring them in, dropping them off in Washington DC. Texas property is Texas property.

Just arrest any Dementia Joe officials who attempt to break this law. Dump them in jail.
The Feds no longer have standing. Once they allowed “Sanctuary Cities” and “Sanctuary States” for illegal aliens, any city and or any state can exempt themselves from any Federal law they wish.
