WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland on Thursday warned Texas Governor Greg Abbott to "immediately rescind" a new executive order aimed at curbing the travel into the state of undocumented immigrants who may pose a risk of transmitting COVID-19.
"The order violates federal law in numerous respects, and Texas cannot lawfully enforce the executive order against any federal official or private parties working with the United States," Garland told Abbott in a letter.
He added that if Texas continues to implement the ground restrictions on migrants, then the Justice Department will "pursue all appropriate legal remedies."

Ok, when a Democrat is in office, immigration is in the purview of the Federal government.
When a Republican is in office, it is a state matter.

A fraud perpetrated by Fox and (not your) friends with their blaring silence on obvious election fraud. But not silent until AFTER they called Arizona for Biden while people were still waiting in line to vote AND the polls still open. They were loud and clear then. They had to act fast. Trump was going to run the table, they were desperate. Fox and (not your) friends are as complicit in the fraud and by extension the betrayal of a President, you and the country as any low life they pretend to dislike.“
Yet people are still watching. Never again for me and family. Foxnews betrayed America, never forget.

Garland said the order .... will also interfere with the implementation of federal immigration law.
That's funny

“”Send in troops... well, that would be a whole nother thing right there.””
.
It sure would be.
We would have US troops on the Texas southern border preventing Texas authorities from preventing invading illegal aliens crossing the border.
US troops forcing the State of Texas to allow an invasion of foreign forces.
Not sure what Abbott would do at that point but you can bet any Federal LEO (or pretty much anything else) in Texas would be wanting to know W.T.H. the biden “administration” is thinking.

Agree 100%. It might help in ‘22...and ‘24. Of course it won’t cause Harris/Biden to serve the country...but that shouldn’t surprise anyone.

That might be a bit messy. Anyway it would probably be quite popular to most Texans my hunch is that most “independents” wouldn't like it at all.

Other than deporting to Mexico, that is the best thing states can do. I suspect after 50,000 of them are sitting around DC looking for handouts, something might give.

I once heard that Texas has it written onto their Constitution that they can split the state into four new states. It was that or succession. I can’t remember. Any of you Texans know. Lord knows y’all love to talk about your state history.
