NJ mural to be removed amid complaints over Black Lives Matter-style fist

A giant mural including a Black Lives Matter-style fist in New Jersey was partially whitewashed soon after it was finished following a flood of complaints, according to the artist.

May Yuasa, 19, told NorthJersey.com that she spent 60 hours painting the mural on a Garden State Parkway underpass in Clifton last week after getting permission from City Manager Dominick Villano.

But she was told that the part showing the fist quickly led to complaints — and Villano sent city workers to paint a white box over the offending image, he confirmed to the outlet.

That decision sparked further outrage — and now the entire mural celebrating the community’s diversity will be completely removed.

Despite Villano giving permission, the underpass is actually the property of the New Jersey Turnpike/Garden State Parkway Authority, which confirmed to the outlet that murals are not allowed and Yuasa’s artwork would have to go.

Yuasa, a recent Clifton High School graduate, insisted that her artwork was merely trying to “show unity and to celebrate Clifton’s diversity.”

“I’m confused as to why it offended anyone,” she told the local site.

“There were no political motivations. It was a symbol of unity,” she said of the painting that also had arms of different skin colors holding hands and making a heart symbol.

She also attacked the “cowardly” way complaints were only made through emails and calls to the city manager.

“During the time that I worked on it, not a single person came up to me to communicate their feelings,” she insisted.

Personally, I’m sick of that damn fist. Seen it since the 60’s. Fix your culture and the rest will take care of itself.

A solid mass of gray represents unity to me.

Calm, smooth, and unchanging over eons of time, if you will let it.

Ugly marxist graffitti on public property with a BLM Fast, MegaPhone and a USE YOUR VOICE call! I don’t know why anyone would find that offensive.

“...show unity and to celebrate Clifton’s diversity.”

Aren’t unity and diversity pretty much opposites?

I’m sick of that damn fist.

I think the raised fist is particularly ironic when it comes to Emancipation Day symbols—the slaves didn’t free themselves.

Good. I’m sick of this disgusting threatening display being embraced by everyone, including governments.

Fist of Peace.

What a perfect little snowflake. Since when does a fist represent unity?

Yes. The black power fist.

It has no place on public property.

The artist complains at the ‘cowardly’ way complaints were received, by emails and phone calls.
If somebody stood there in person and told her of their objections, she probably would have labeled it racist harassment. “I felt threatened!!” That area is not supposed to have any mural there in the first place. Somebody who gave her that job thought the rules did not apply to their cause.

**That fist drawing is not the best anyway.
She’s no M.C. Escher, for sure.

As you can see, the far-left Democrats aren't playing games; they mean business (stolen Presidential election, spreading critical race theory throughout all K-12 curricula, relentlessly bashing Trump and his supporters, banning President Trump from social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, violent BLM/Antifa riots nationwide, etc.). On top of that, the skinny 19-year-old girl who painted the Black Lives Matter-style fist mural calls anyone who is critical of her mural a "coward." When a skinny 19-year-old is calling Republicans and Trump supporters "cowards," you know the far left is playing for keeps. The radical Dems aren't messing around - they mean business.

The BLM fist is really the socialist fist.

To say the socialist fist is non political and unifying is absurd.

Maybe the young artist should crack open a book and learn about the 100 million or so people killed by the ideology the fist represents.

LOL! “I’m going to kick your ass with a smile.”

Yes, a fist is generally associated with fighting.

There was a comedy film made in the 80's called First Family. It was a political satire starring among others, Bob Newhart, Madeline Kahn, Gilda Radner and Richard Benjamin, and it was written by Buck Henry. Newhart played the president. A plot device involved negotiating with some fictional African nation whose flag as I remember it was a black hand or fist crushing a white guy. That should be BLM's flag.
