America’s ‘Great Retreat’ is well underway The US is rapidly lowering its military profile and backing away from commitments to allies in the Middle East and Asia

Why would the US Department of Justice drop five cases against Chinese researchers including Dr Juan Tang, a cancer researcher who allegedly lied on her visa application after photos of her were found wearing a Chinese military uniform?

The five cases are just part of a bigger picture which can best be termed as “The Great Retreat.” In many areas, the US is lowering its profile and backing away from its commitments.

For example, the US has pulled its only aircraft carrier, the USS Ronald Reagan, from the Pacific ostensibly to cover the retreat from Afghanistan. But whether the Ronald Reagan carrier will return to Japan in the future isn’t altogether clear.

As the need for an aircraft carrier while the US pulls out of landlocked Afghanistan is questionable, the result is that the US is leaving the Pacific devoid of carrier coverage, which appears to contravene the US policy of protecting its regional allies and partners in the region.

In Guam, the US has moved its big bombers including the B-1 and B-52 back to the continental United States (CONUS in Penatgonese) and is using the Guam base mostly as a forward depot where it can try and cycle in bombers on an as-needed basis. The real problem: Guam is increasingly threatened by Chinese missiles. (much more at link)

It’s almost as if the Chinese Communist Party were running the USA via a mentally incapacitated puppet in the White Hut.

We’ve seen so much incredible stupidity, corruption and bad consequences from the USA’s adventures abroad.

I know that much of it is due to sheer incompetence, short-term politics and greed - but I question now if the underlying narrative and motives even have any consideration at all for the welfare of average Americans?

Perhaps the end times will begin when some feckless us president removes all support for Israel, and the nation’s that hate her will take that as their cue to try to attack Israel because we won’t be there to help protect her anymore.

Some say that the Restrainer spoken of in the Bible, the entity that keeps evil somewhat at bay for now, is God’s people, th3 church, and those that stand up against evil. God also promises to bless those that bless Israel, and those that bless her help protect her, but in the end times, nations will band together to attack Israel. Without the ‘restrainer’ being their as a preventative measure, it might embolden those that hate Israel to make their move

But who knows? Just a possible scenario. At some point, the restrainer will be removed, and that is when all hell will break loose, because there will be nothing g to stand up agaisn t the evil anymore

It sucks for Taiwan and Hong Kong. But there is no appetite for a war with China.

“backing away to facilitate the Chinese invasion of Taiwon??”

The flakier American support seems, the more likely our “allies” will develop and deploy nuclear weapons. They won’t announce they are doing it until the weapons are fully deployed in delivery vehicles. If I was running Japan or South Korea, I’d have all the parts assembled and tested and ready to go over a long weekend. They can test the bombs the same way the South Africans did, by setting them off over the South Atlantic or Pacific while the detection satellites are on the other side of the world. The satellites did detect the blasts, but by the time they got over the blast site, there was nothing to be seen. The Israelis did the same.

We need an aircraft carrier to cover a retreat from Afghanistan?

Calling BS on this one.

The Democrats have once again proven that no battle is too small or too big to run away from.

I strongly disagree. It is not a retreat, it is a capitulation. We’re going “full commie”.

Trump questioned the value of remaining in NATO and our commitments to South Korea and Japan. He started asking the questions that should have been asked decades ago. And which still need to be answered now.

“What “allies” do we have in the Middle East?”

According to Biden, the answer to your question is Iran.

I think it's self evidentiary that it doesn't and hasn't for a very long time.

It sucks for Hawaii as well, as that will be the next step in Chinese domination of the Pacific; of course after that, there won’t be any appetite to defend California either etc just a bunch of progressives and other lefties, so no loss. Later, similar sentiments will be discovered for any state west of the Mississippi and then west of the East Coast states ...

We will soon be outgunned in quality and quantity with the current Biden team leadership. We also lack the will to fight any major war and other Western nations should be ramping up and forming their own alliances assuming no help from the US or worse, active US intelligence and assistance to Iran when they move against Israel.

So we need to fight oversea wars so bad things don’t happen in America? That didn’t work out so well in Viet Nam fighting a small guerilla enemy. How do you think it will play out against a nuclear power with 300 million people fit for military service? Sorry, no thank you to starting a world war to “save” Taiwan.
