An out-of-town guest staying at a hotel in the city’s Old Town-Chinatown was on a walk Monday afternoon when a stranger chased her down, threw her to the ground from behind and stabbed her in an unprovoked attack, witnesses told police.
The visitor lay bleeding in the middle of the street as officers arrested a 44-year-old woman near the scene at Northwest Couch Street and Third Avenue.
Tammy Marie Imholt was “extremely aggressive and belligerent” and covered in blood herself when police arrested her, according to court documents. Two private security officers with Portland Patrol Inc. alerted police to the attack, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The visitor was staying at the Hoxton Hotel, less than two blocks from the scene of the attack.
She told police that she had crossed the street while on a walk to avoid a woman who was yelling on the sidewalk outside a tent, the affidavit said.

Wonder why these security guards didn’t do anything?
Night stick, billy club, slap jack, any of these items applied liberally to the scalp and neck regions tend to learn the offender that earning such treatment is not something they want to repeat.

A few weeks ago there was a post here, a Freeper was going to visit every state in the Union and wanted local tips.
I had made the comment for a good time, to visit Portland any night this summer. If the lady assaulted was a Freeper and there because of my tip, I apologies.
Poor thing... still suffering from teenage acne.

The wife and I visited Portland several years ago. It was interesting and we enjoyed it, although I was on edge the entire time. Saw the sights, ate some good food, hit a Columbia store...but was glad to leave. Don’t need to go back.

The Atlanta stabbing involved a local woman and her dog and took place at night in a park, didn't it?
I'd say there is more to that story then we're hearing about.
