MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin judge has charged a police officer in the 2016 slaying of a Black man, years after prosecutors declined to file charges.

Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Glenn Yamahiro charged Joseph Mensah on Wednesday with homicide by negligent use of a weapon in the shooting death of Jay Anderson Jr. in Wauwatosa in 2016.

More details about the trigger-happy cop. He’d already resigned as a cop in 2020:

Wisconsin cop who killed three people in five years is resigning

Wauwatosa, Wisconin — Police officer Joseph Mensah, who’s shot three people to death in five years, is resigning from the Wauwatosa Police Department effective Nov. 30, reports CBS Milwaukee affiliate WDJT-TV. The Wauwatosa Common Council entered into a separation agreement Tuesday with Mensah and the city’s police union.

Mensah was cleared of criminal wrongdoing in each of the three shootings but there’ve been numerous calls for his firing.

The Police and Fire Commission was planning an initial hearing for mid-December on whether Mensah should be allowed to keep his job. The city says it’s asked the commission to meet “as soon as practical” to dismiss the charges pending against Mensah since he’ll no longer be an employee.

Former federal prosecutor Steven Biskupic issued a report last month recommending that the commission fire him, saying the risk he could kill a fourth person is too great, according to The Associated Press.

Kimberley Motley, an attorney for the families of those killed by Mensah, said his “resignation is long overdue. While we welcome the news, it is tragic that the Wauwatosa Police Department … failed to address his shortcomings for years. It is time for new leadership in the Wauwatosa Police Department.

“The families of Alvin Cole, Jay Anderson, Jr. & Antonio Gonzales will continue to fight for justice. We call on the city of Wauwatosa to immediately fully disclose the terms of its agreement with Joseph Mensah to the public.”

Wauwatosa Mayor Dennis McBride said, “Now is the time for all of us to come together and heal. We’ve made substantial progress during 2020, and in the coming year we’ll continue to focus on positive change for our community. As before, I’m committed to working with the Common Council, the city’s Equity and Inclusion Commission, and members of the public to make that happen.”

So the DA and company refused to prosecute five years ago based on the evidence and the family asked a judge to review the case. The judge is now charging him?

Who will prosecute? The DA? If I were the DA and some judge did this I would send in the most useless, incompetent to do the prosecution, allow him to screw up the trial and get a not guilty verdict, thereby legally closing the case forever.

And its not as though new evidence was discovered either. America doesn't have a "justice system." It has a "legal-system," which itself is being taken over by its "political system."

Sound like a real separation of powers issue but that may not apply at state level.

Three people in five years may seem trigger happy, but more details on the shootings are desirable. Were the shootings justified? If A advanced on B with a knife in hand threatening to kill B and Mensah shot A then there would generally be no issue. Or if Mensah stopped a car and A got out of the car and started shooting at Mensah or partner, and Mensah shot A then there would also generally be no issue. If Mensah was patrolling an area where stuff like this occurs fairly often, then three in five years might not be unreasonable. It is possible that he is trigger happy, but Mensah was cleared of criminal wrongdoing in each of the three shootings.

I am thinking that if he is found guilty by this judge then the family gets a huge payday.

It [America] no longer has a Constitution. The doing away with the Constitution began in 2009. It was completed January 20, 2021. There were pauses along the way, but the Plug was pulled January 20, 2021. The Left has the sheep pretending that nothing happened on November when the Democrat Party with the cooperation of the Republican Party executed a Coup against the legitimate winner President Trump and replaced him with Joe, the Thief Biden and Kamala, Willie Brown’s whore. The Republican sheep still pretend that nothing out of the ordinary happened. And are in denial.

The DA and the judge are both justice system officials so separation of powers may not apply. But the judge acting as a prosecutor really smells rotten.

If the charge is made, who prosecutes? Does the judge hear the case? Or is it assigned to another judge? Lots of procedural questions here.

Three people in five years may seem trigger happy, but more details on the shootings are desirable.

Wauwatosa is directly west of Milwaukee, and is part of the Milwaukee metro area.

The first shooting was because the victim had a sword and wouldn't drop it.

The 2020 victim had a gun in a mall, flashed it, and got the cops after him.

He shot himself in the arm while he was running, then refused to drop the gun, leading to him getting rubbed out by Mensah.

The shooting was used to justify peaceful riots, burnings property damage.

Bad guy was legally drunk and high on pot. Cop observed a pistol on the seat beside him. Made his raise his hands and held him at gunpoint as he called for backup. Bad guy kept lowering his hands, and leaning towards the pistol in the right seat. Finally he went for the pistol and the cop shot him. Video cam in his car captured the guys hand going for the gun.

All three sound justified and well witnessed. But hey, the problem is the cop, not the ‘scrotes in the hood.

Thanks for the details. If the first shooting (the sword bearer) was the 2016 incident then it appears that Mensah made the correct decision. And my speculation about a payday looks more likely. $27 million, anyone?

All three sound justified and well witnessed.

You had to read between the lines real hard on the coverage by the failed English majors [journalists].

They were trying mightily to obscure the details.

That clarifies the situation nicely. Payday motive.

Diana,

You may want to check these links:

I’d be careful calling Mensah a trigger happy cop.

https://www.wisconsinrightnow.com/2021/07/28/joseph-mensah-charged/

https://www.wisconsinrightnow.com/2021/07/28/judge-yamahiro-mensah/

All three of his shoots were cleared by very liberal DA’s office.

The only person acting criminally in this whole thing is the Judge.

Should be thrown off the bench.

Judge Glenn Yamahiro, whose ex-wife and the mother of his child has represented the families of men shot by former Wauwatosa Police Officer Joseph Mensah, used a rare John Doe procedure on Wednesday to find probable cause that Mensah committed homicide by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon in the death of Jay Anderson five years ago. No business involving himself in case major conflict of interest.

Yes, if you read the extended version of the ApePee article [the one linked here is the shortened version, and anonymous], you can see the Terrorist-Associated Press riotpuppets Scott Bauer and Todd Richmond shading everything to cast a look of guilt on Joseph Mensah.

APpuppets: "Mensah said he shot Anderson after Anderson reached for a gun, but Anderson's family disputes that and the judge on Wednesday said the evidence did not back up Mensah's version of events.

Note that the ACTUAL POSSESSION of a gun [supplied by a third party!!!!!], which is present on the front passenger seat of the car, kind of falls out of the story.

APpuppets: "Mensah joined the Wauwatosa Police Department in 2015. That year he fatally shot Antonio Gonzales, who identified as Latino and American Indian. Prosecutors said Gonzales refused to drop a sword."

Note the curious phrasing "prosecutors said Gonzales refused to drop a sword". Note how the writers deftly change the subject to the prosecutors, leaving Mensah once again hung out to dry, as if he was getting off ONLY because "the prosecutors" - not because there was an actual sword that might not have been getting dropped.

Finally, there's the Alvin Cole shooting.

APpuppets: "Then, in 2020, Mensah fatally shot 17-year-old Alvin Cole as Cole fled from police during a disturbance in a mall. Mensah said he shot Cole, who was black, after he pointed a gun at him.

Here we see the wrap-up smear completed, as the "now-discredited liar" Mensah SAID that Cole pointed a gun at him.

Nothing in there about the brandishing in the mall of an actual weapon, Cole shooting himself with his own weapon, and then refusing to drop the actual weapon.

No, we can only go on Mensah's word that Cole pointed a gun at him - at least in this slanted ApePee hitpiece...
