This was more likely a vote against incumbency ... Ellzey is not as strong a personality as Wright was so that is why the Ds are encouraged. All they need to do is apply a little money here, a few embarrassing pictures there, and bang! another left-leaning RINO.
Yes, the May election could be called a “jungle primary” in that it had candidates from both parties. But it was foremost a special election. Only the top two vote-getters could advance to the finals, and all voters regardless of affiliation can participate.
In TX you join a party by voting in its primary every two years. Otherwise, you are technically an unaffiliated voter in TX, which is the majority since only a minority vote in either party primary.
I don’t know who that is.
I never said Ellzey was a Never Trumper, all I said was he was backed by Kristol and Crenshaw.
What this post proves beyond any doubt is the fact that Alter Kaker’s posts and proclamations should not be trusted. Alter Kaker’s totally misrepresents the political leanings of the winner. I suspect Alter Kaker’s is another of the many progressive socialist democrat plants on this site who spread disinformation on this site and others. Another infiltraitor is unmasked.
Open primary states are another reason why conservatives need to find Donald Dems to run for Dem primaries.
For Christs sake, how many of you don’t seem to understand that this was not a primary election, it was a special general election thus there was no cross over voting per say. Anyone of any party can vote for either of the candidates.
In that case, while I don’t particularly like the outcome, I don’t think that there can be complaints about how the system was set up. A formal primary system would be better, but there are arguments for this version—it as least has the potential to ensure that seats are not left vacant for as long when there is a clear consensus candidate who is capable of clearing 50%.
Did Trump only endorse after the two emerged, or had he endorsed early and his candidate initially led, with say 35% in a crowded field, and then picked up only 12% more in the run off? A late endorsement like this could potentially backfire in a district that has both a sizable number of Dems and country club Pubs.
I hear ya, and I agree.
Or maybe it was a brilliant piece of reverse psychology by Trump. Endorse the weaker candidate thus prompting the Dems and never Trumpers, but I repeat myself, to vote for the better candidate. What better way to win than to get your enemies to vote for your stronger candidate. If that’s the case it shows that Trump is a master at outside the box thinking. Just saying.

Maybe this is the result Trump wanted all the time and that’s why he didn’t just stay out of it as you suggested he should have done.
It will help with 2022 to find out if there were any oddities, vote machines exc...
IMO most Rinos and Never Trumpers are accomplices to the criminal enterprise known as the Democrat Party-And they would cheat, (likely with help from their Democrat bosses), to keep their pay-offs and schemes going.
Anyway, it would be a good idea to check for any possible vote fraud, given what we now know they are willing to do (steal a presidential election).
It wasn’t a primary. This was the special general election. The Dems were wiped out in the jungle primary - two Republicans advanced to the general election. So this election was by the electorate at large - easy for the Dems to influence...since both candidates were Republicans, both would get Republican support and if the Democrats backed one candidate that would be enough to put them over the top.
This was the general election. It’s over.
You are correct.
It’s sad to see that the Qtards and moron class are alive and well on this thread.
The media plays the moron class like a fiddle. This election had nothing to do with Trump.
Ellzey isn’t a “Never-Trumper”. He’s a State Representative with a Conservative voting record. He had the support of Rick Perry and Joe Barton who represented this area for years. He also ran for and almost won this seat outright on his own.
He also raised a million dollars more than Wright.
To set the record straight from the Qtards:
1. Texas doesn’t use Dominion machines. Every time your queer Hoft preferred candidate doesn’t win, doesn’t mean you get to yell “dominion” like a magic talisman.
https://www.sos.texas.gov/elections/forms/sysexam/dominion-d-suite-5.5-a.pdf
2. The media was devastated because the GOP locked the Democrats out of the general election. This became a R vs R general and the combined GOP voting share was 62%.
3. Hardly anyone voted. 78000 votes in the primary. Less than 40000 votes in the general. Wright won 15000 votes in the primary, and got 18000
Votes in the general. Ellzey got 10000 votes in the primary and 20000 in the general. Harrison, Castro, Wood and Ballantine (Republicans) had more than 18000 votes between them. Their voters alone would be more than Ellzeys addition.
The moron class let’s the media set the narrative and falls for their trap every time.
Texas doesn’t use dominion machines, moron. They were denied certification in Texas 3 times.
Democrats didn’t vote.
78000 votes in the primary.
38000 votes in the general.
This wasn’t a primary.
The Republicans locked the Democrats out of the general by winning the primary.
See post #4.
Bingo! The moron class is letting the media play them like a fiddle as they are seeking to set the narrative.
It’s sad how easy it is for them.
