A New York Times reporter is facing backlash on social media after she posted a string of now-deleted tweets suggesting supporters of former president Donald Trump should be considered 'enemies of the state'.
Katie Benner, the Justice Department reporter at the Times, took to social media Tuesday amid the first hearing of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 insurrection at the US Capitol.
In her tweets, Benner argued that the committee 'underscores' what she said are 'legitimate national security threats' and cast doubt that the committee, which was appointed by Nancy Pelosi, would find a solution.
