What ballsy questions would he ask that another sound Republican couldn’t?

Not couldn't... wouldn't.

Cheney and Kinzinger want to implicate President Trump, not defend him.

Cheney and Kinzinger want to say that the mob were Trump supporters, not Antifa infiltrators.

The other Republicans probably don't go so far as Cheney and Kinzinger in their hatred, but they won't go too far away from the DC "in crowd" either to stand up for Trump.

Jim Jordan, on the other hand, was a member of President Trump's impeachment defense team.

I’ve given it dome thought. I can’t think of a good defense. There’s really not much they can hang on trump. What questions could he ask that would “defend” him?

It's already been reported as the reason why Pelosi rejected Jordan.

Jordan wanted the committee to call the resigned Chief of Capitol Police to testify on how he went to Pelosi days before the rally to ask for more manpower -- DC National Guard troops -- and extra training. She refused him. Twice. The Chief of Capitol Police reports directly to the Speaker.

Jordan wants to probe this, and Pelosi wants to shut it down because that line of questioning leads directly back to her and her culpability in what happened. Pelosi had previously forced the resignation of the Chief before the full story began to emerge. Once he had resigned, he was no longer "newsworthy" to the LAAP-dog media, and so that part of the story got buried.

So the question is, are there other Republicans who would face down the committee to demand that they look into the police preparation in the days before the rally, and what Pelosi knew about it, and what decisions she made in the days leading up to the rally?

Allowing? What exactly is he supposed to do about it? Unless he pops some caps in some Ds they have the majority and unfortunately can do whatever the hell they want with this stupid committee.

Not a fan of him and I’d much rather Jordan was the leader, (and he needs to strip Cheney and Kinzinger of all committee assignments) but come on.

BTW, Cali has all party primaries. Top two advance to general election.

President Trump had both houses...they refused to get rid of fubocare..
The blame for that one falls squarely on the shoulders of John McCain.

He knew he was dying, and that was his goodbye gift to President Trump.

Simply not true. Murkowski and Collins also voted no. And most importantly, Senator Shelby (R-AL) campaigned for another no vote, Doug Jones, on Fake News CNN.

Here’s all the sordid details. Never forget. Never forgive.

> What you're leaving out is that McCain held back to be the last to vote.

With Murkowski's and Collins' vote it was 49-50. McCain could have voted no to make it 50-50 with Pence breaking the tie.

But he didn't. He voted yes to make it 49-51.

So the choice was McCain's to make, unless you want to argue that if McCain voted no then someone else would have switched to yes.

But the bottom line is that not only did McCain make the deciding vote, he gloated with a "thumbs down" gesture while doing it.

That means he owns it, he knew it, and he enjoyed doing it.

How did Doug Jones vote on Obamacare repeal? Shelby telling Alabama Republicans not to vote for the GOP nominee running against him was certainly supporting Jones. Somebody’s wrong here and it ain’t me.

So why couldn’t one of the others that was originally assigned to the hearing ask the question or get the chief? Surely Jordan isn’t the only person who can do that.

Jones voted no, but he voted earlier when his name was roll-called.

I was wrong that the vote was 49-50 when McCain voted. He voted when his name was called in the roll call.

Here is NBC's article on the evening's events:

The return of McCain to Washington after a brain cancer diagnosis added drama to the already tense proceedings. It was his vote — the 50th — that allowed Republicans begin debating the measure.

McCain gave a heartfelt speech upon his return to the Senate on Tuesday, decrying the rise of partisanship. And it was McCain who put an end to the partisan repeal effort.

McCain spoke to Trump last night on the phone and the president urged him to vote to for the “skinny repeal” bill — assuring him it wouldn’t end up passing into law, according to one source with direct knowledge of the call.

Vice President Mike Pence, who arrived in the chamber in a bid to rescue the bill and in preparation to cast the deciding vote, stood alongside McCain's desk and then joined the senator in the cloakroom. By the time they re-emerged, separately, the vote had begun.

McCain went back to his desk and sat after casting his "no" vote. He eventually made his way to the Democrats' side of the chamber and was greeted with hugs and cheers.

Several Republicans said they did not know where McCain would fall, and there were audible gasps in the chamber when he turned down his thumb to indicate his decision.

The renowned maverick had committed perhaps his most rebellious move ever, defying his party and president on the one issue that had united the Republicans for nearly a decade...

Many Republicans who did vote for it said they were holding their nose to vote for it just to advance the process into negotiations with the House of Representatives.

McCain could have voted with Republicans to continue the negotiation into the House, but he did not. He ended it once and for all.

That's the point.

"Can" versus "will."

Most Republicans cower from power and won't stick their necks out, but Jordan will.

So we're left with asking who would have the courage to stand up to Pelosi's hand-picked committee?

We know why Pelosi didn't want Jordan, and we know why she did want Cheney and Kinzinger.

Perhaps Louie Gohmert would do it. So would Elise Stefanik. Can you think of others who would, not just could?

Have you seen him on any other committees? He is unafraid to ask tough questions. He is extremely well-informed on virtually any topic and he is likely the expert in the room when he is sitting on a committee. Indeed, on more than one occasion I have seen him better informed on a topic that the supposed expert who is testifying.

Good post.

Boehner, McConnell, Ryan and McCarthy

Have you ever seen such a collection of LOSERS?

We need some real conservatives and DC need to change the way it does things i.e McCarthy will continue the massive omnibus spending bills. It’s effectively the Uniparty as so many have said.

Something has to change..

He does pose good questions. But he’s also great on theatrics. And I believe that’s what most people what to hear and see. The questions can be posed by anyone.

I don’t mind the theatrics as long as they serve a purpose, and his usually do.

My point is those questions can be asked be anyone. The evidence can be presented by anyone. It doesn’t have to be Jordan to get the job done. My biggest problem with him is his theatrics. I know a lot of people like it. To me it’s like watching or listening to Hannity interview someone and he doesn’t allow them to answer without him interrupting or verbally stepping on the person.

You mean like Adam Schiff did?

Jordan and Schiff are cut from the same cloth. Just different sides of the aisle.

Not at all true. Schiff has been caught lying under oath in Congressional hearings, even the one he headed. I honestly don't think Jordan lies...and that's saying something.

I’m speaking of questioning technic. Actually Jordon is closer to Hannity than Schiff.
