TOKYO — Simone Biles was pulled from the team competition here Tuesday after an awkward, low-scoring attempt on vault, leaving the United States, which was already locked in a tough battle with Russia, in serious trouble as it seeks its third consecutive gold medal.
Biles bailed out on her expected vault, attempting just a Yurchenko 1.5. She still needed a massive bounce/stumble upon landing.
She looked to be in tears as she left the mat and then soon walked out of the arena floor with a trainer from USA Gymnastics.
She did not appear to suffer any obvious physical injury during her attempt. NBC reported that she was dealing with a “mental issue” not a physical one. USA Gymnastics would just describe it as a "medical issue."

Yup, I’ve always said that. Score more points or cross the finish line first or it’s not a “sport.”
She’s unquestionably the best gymnast that has existed under the current scoring system. But she’s not a perfect robot. And as we saw today, in the event of a withdrawal, you still need the rest of the team to be ready to step up. I’m not happy for Simone or The women’s team, but I’m glad NBC has to pretend to care about other gymnasts now. Their coverage is so awful.
And yes, beam judging was suspect.

Everyone needs to just stop with the cynical Olympic US-hating traitor theme.
Not nearly everyone on the team is the PC woke garbage of half the women’s soccer team. Or *professional* men’s basketball.
Sports that depend on negative covid test results throughout the duration of competition isn’t Sport, because it puts the judges in the labs, overseeing all events.
Even in today’s leftist world, I suspect most Olympians lean to the right. It’s sports and ideally one of the most meritocratic things out there. But they stay silent due to cancel culture.
That’s why all medals should come with asterisks.
Not just that.
But COVID theater means no spectators except a handful of teammates. These athletes that are normally used to lots of noise from crowds are now performing the most stressful event of their lives in near silence. I can’t imagine how that would play with one’s head.
Yeah, this Olympics is going to need some asterisks…
That’s why all the medals should have Dr. Fauci’s face on them instead of Olympic Rings.

That’s my main objection to the coverage. Why, during the Olympics, does NBC’s Lessie Holt have Simone talk about the abuse by their now-imprisoned coach?
I haven’t watched and wasted my time on the Olympics, for many years.
No. She was seen talking with the team doctor, and she apparently had something wrong with her physically.
DO NOT ASSUME that ALL US Olympic members hate the US. That is simply NOT true.
Well when you have US Olympians publicly demonstrating against the US during their award ceremonies and then publicly claiming their hate for the US in PR campaigns - all with the approval of the US olympics committee AND now the world Olympic committee (after pressure from the US committee) it’s kind of hard not to think that way.
One is known by the company one keeps.
She is the least of woke.

Wrong. Simine Biles has already given several highy publicized interviews stating that she supports BLM, Colin Kapernick, Breonna Taylor, and believes the USA is a racist nation. Suggest you do some research.
Personally, I hope she trips and breaks a leg.
