I don't and won't go to the VA anymore, ever. I don't GAS how free it is. One reason being I can't stand the sight of all the broke-dick male welfare queens groveling and whoring for their fed.gov disability checks. They, literally, make me fkn sick to my stomach.

It's another "dept" that cannot and will never be reformed, mainly because it never should have existed in the first place.

Well, like I said, I don't go very often. Most stuff is done by mail or phone right now, and my GP who I see once a year for by blood work and physical (their idea, not mine) is in Sarasota, which isn't far.

When I do have to go to Bay Pines (once a year, again, their idea) for dermatology work, I bring a friend or two and we make a half-day road trip out of the deal, including a lunch stop at one of the many touristy eateries along the way. Sometimes we check out Ft. DeSoto state park while we're at it.

I had private insurance all my life outside the service until about four years ago when I realized how badly I was getting drained. Between premiums, deductibles and co-pays, that I was shelling out $10K a year for a few visits, if that, a year. I just couldn't abide by that.
