The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) on Monday become the first federal agency to require its frontline health care workers to be vaccinated.
President Joe Biden confirmed the move in a brief statement to reporters Monday afternoon.
'Yes. Veteran Affairs is going to in fact require that all docs working in facilities are going to have to be vaccinated,' Biden said, following a report quoting his Veterans Affairs secretary regarding health care workers at the VA.
115,000 staffers will have two months to get inoculated against the coronavirus, and face being fired if they do not oblige.
President Biden confirmed that 'all docs' at the VA would be asked to get the shot ahead of his meeting with the Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi in the Oval Office.
Denis McDonough, the secretary of veterans affairs, told the New York Times: 'I am doing this because it’s the best way to keep our veterans safe, full stop.
He added that the mandates would apply to the employees who have the most contact with patients.
This includes doctors, dentists, nurses, physicians assistants and physical therapists at VA medical centers across the country.
The Biden administration has so far been unwilling to back federal vaccine mandates, and has insisted it is up to private companies.
The move came after White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the White House 'supports the steps of hospitals' to require staff to get vaccinated, saying it 'could be a guide for us on what to do with our own workforce here from the federal government.'
She noted there are 'certain powers' that the federal government has, and 'certain powers that the federal government does not have.'

When I do have to go to Bay Pines (once a year, again, their idea) for dermatology work, I bring a friend or two and we make a half-day road trip out of the deal, including a lunch stop at one of the many touristy eateries along the way. Sometimes we check out Ft. DeSoto state park while we're at it.
I had private insurance all my life outside the service until about four years ago when I realized how badly I was getting drained. Between premiums, deductibles and co-pays, that I was shelling out $10K a year for a few visits, if that, a year. I just couldn't abide by that.
Oh, you know it.
We have a government which is now saying that an obviously, provably fraudulent election was "clean" and "legitimate." What else can't they do?
Very good post and right on! I won’t be surprised if my Doctor at my VA Clinic is gone soon. He’s pretty hard core conservative and dedicated to the Vets. He already told me he won’t take the shot.

MESSAGE FROM THE SECRETARY
Vaccine
On Wednesday, July 28, 2021, we are making COVID-19 vaccines mandatory for Title 38 Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health care personnel—including physicians, dentists, podiatrists, optometrists, registered nurses, physician assistants, expanded-function dental auxiliaries and chiropractors—who work in Veterans Health Administration (VHA) facilities, visit VHA facilities or provide direct care to those we serve. Each employee will have 8 weeks to be fully vaccinated.
Above all else, I’m doing this because it’s the best way to keep the Nation’s Veterans and our employees safe.
Any unvaccinated employees who interact with Veterans right now are putting those Veterans at risk—and that’s a risk we simply cannot take. Since the pandemic began, we have lost tens of thousands of Veterans to this deadly disease. The risks are even higher now due to the Delta variant, which has claimed the lives of at least three of the four VA employees we’ve lost to COVID in recent weeks and spurred a large outbreak among unvaccinated employees at a VA Law Enforcement Training facility. This variant is more transmissible, more likely to lead to hospitalizations and less responsive to treatments than previous variants—which makes the unvaccinated among us more vulnerable, more likely to become first infected and more likely to spread the infection to others.
The vaccine can help us prevent these tragedies by providing strong protection against COVID-19 transmissions, hospitalizations and deaths. Nearly every person dying from COVID-19 right now is unvaccinated—which means that from now on, almost every COVID-19 death is preventable. That is why Title 38 employees must be vaccinated.
More information is coming soon about the mandate implementation, including specifics about how to report your COVID-19 vaccinations while addressing privacy concerns. I’ve shared the policy with our Union partners and want to give them time to share any potential ideas they have before sharing it with you as final. For now, I want you to know that I did not make this decision lightly. I have discussed this mandate extensively with leaders at VHA, the Veterans Benefits Administration and the National Cemetery Administration, as well as leading health care experts—all of whom agreed that this is the best course of action to protect the Nation’s Veterans and their families. Mandates are supported by many national medical organizations, including the American Hospital Association, America’s Essential Hospitals and a multi-society group of the leading Infectious Disease Societies. Today, the American Medical Association, American Nurses Association, American College of Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics, Association of American Medical Colleges and National Association for Home Care and Hospice also endorsed mandating COVID-19 vaccination for health care workers.
So please, if you have not already been vaccinated, do so as soon as you can. All VA employees are eligible to be vaccinated without charge at any of our facilities. You will receive 4 hours of paid administrative leave after demonstrating that you have been vaccinated. And if you have any outstanding questions about the vaccine, you can find more information about its safety and effectiveness in these FAQs or view clinician and Veteran videos here.
The bottom line is that we cannot provide the best care and services to the Nation’s Veterans if we do not first care for ourselves. Whenever a Veteran or teammate sets foot in a VA facility, they deserve to know we have done everything in our power to keep them safe. With this mandate, we can once again make—and keep—that fundamental promise.
Thank you to those of you who have already been vaccinated, and to those of you who will get vaccinated now. There is no better way to keep Veterans or our colleagues safe.
Denis McDonough

Don’t be so lazy. I’m not your helicopter parent.
👍
“Don’t be so lazy. I’m not your helicopter parent.”
I did read parts and scan the rest. I did word searches and didn’t see where it said what you claimed.
Maybe I missed it, but it should have been simple for you to provide a citation for the part that supports your claim. You can’t seem to support your position.
I’m not inclined to chase the goose again at your instigation, nor am I inclined to waste anymore time on this with you.
Then you do not understand law or how to read it. Law does not always state exactly the words you think it should. If the law says, “Shall be blue”, that means red is not acceptable. You will not see the word “Shall not be red”.
Just tell them to mail you the shot and you'll mail back the empty needle as "proof" you're vaccinated.
That worked nicely for millions of "absentee" ballot voters last Fall.
We have no idea how much such a supplement regime changes the odds. Add to that there is no way to know what drugs/supplements medical personnel are taking, and there is no way to mandate that they take them.
Its just fine as personal advice, and if widely followed it would have some beneficial effect, but its not something one can mandate.
Most of this stuff is moot. You have had ongoing ‘trials’ on an enormous scale already. Many hundreds of millions of people have been ‘jabbed’ over the last six months.
We have tons of data on side effects and risks, at least in the short term. We also have sound information on efficacy based on comparisons of hospitalization and mortality with and without vaccines, over the last six months. All that is known. Go with whats known, all the medical testing, or the lack of it, pre-release is irrelevant now.
Pfizer and some of these others, btw, are some of the biggest drug companies on Earth. Hundreds of millions of people regularly take Pfizer drugs like Lipitor. They have so many products on sale that they can’t avoid product suits. Lots of these things are the best available treatment for this or that medical condition. They make so much stuff that something has to go wrong somewhere. Or to go to absurd lengths, for consistencies sake, one can avoid all drugs from these people, but there you go.
My current quibble is long term effects. This is a moot point for people like me, over a certain age, as long term in our case isn’t very long. I don’t think its prudent to give these things to children and fertile women.
My medical history is none of the government’s business.
Which means nothing except fees to some lawyers for a case that they will gracefully lose. The employees who refused will still be fired, and the ones who surrendered? Maybe they will still be alive and unharmed. Maybe not.
It won't matter either way. The courts will approve whatever the Democrats orders may be.
If there is some injustice in those orders, the corrections will not come from the courts. It won't come from voting either.
I would report similar findings in the US.
I monitor actuarial report summaries compiled by insurance companies for the period of 2019-2021.
They are not seeing hundreds of thousands of excess deaths which can be attributed to COVID-19 or the mRNA treatments. They are seeing a reduction in average lifespan.
They are seeing unusual increases in the rate of deaths, particularly in younger people in their 30's, 40's and 50's. Those are being tentatively interpreted as due to an increase in opioid usage, but they are not really sure.
Death numbers are expected to be increasing as the Boomer generation passes from the scene. However the measured increase for the last two years is about 20% higher than expected. The unexpected increase is about 100,000 people per year.
Hmm. Needs further study.
But people are mandating the EUA jabs, right? And that’s OK?
“VA Law Enforcement Training facility”
Why does the VA have Law enforcement?
They are seeing a reduction in average lifespan.
If there is a nutritional factor, could be omega 6 fats. People started using a lot of seed oils in the 20th century. The percentage of fats that is omega 6 fats in people’s bodies keep increasing.
However, that's not how it's going to play out in the longer term. The surest way to avoid counterfeit vax papers is chipping everybody.
Think on that for a moment.
Consider the practicality here. You can mandate a vaccination, because that is once, over and done, and documented. You can’t verify that your employee is daily, reliably taking ivermectin and vitamin pills.
