Good Lord.

"CDC will withdraw the request to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) of the CDC 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel, the assay first introduced in February 2020 for detection of SARS-CoV-2 only."

So they rushed out an assay in February 2020 because of the urgency of the blossoming pandemic.

Since they rushed it out it only detected Covid-19 and wasn't intended to be a broad test identifying multiple pathogens.

??? I think you have it backwards. No one was using it as a broad test. They were using it to test for Covid-19 and it was picking up influenza as well. That's a big problem, right? The kind of problem described in the title of the article:

CDC Quietly Revokes RT-PCR Emergency Use Authorization Because They Counted Covid-19 and Influenza Together

No, of course it wasn't picking up influenza and saying it was Covid.

Where did you get that idea?
