Coulson said he was shocked at the FBI’s tweet last week urging citizens to monitor “family members and peers” for signs of extremism. “The bureau’s job is to collect evidence, not to develop informants,” Coulson said. “That was inappropriate.”
Coulson said he and others are “very upset” the FBI hasn’t arrested anti-government and anti-fascist protesters who have been leading violent demonstrations in Portland and Seattle for more than a year — yet are bearing down so hard on those arrested for the insurrection at the Capitol.

I’ve been saying for years that any time 3 KKK members get together that 2 of them are FBI informants.
Nothing wrong with being optimistic as many were... including me. But that extended courtesy sailed years ago with the FBI’s egregious and unlawful attack on POTUS.
Bruce Erion, a West Point graduate and Vietnam vet, was an Atlanta TV reporter/helicopter news pilot.
In 1995, Erion and his girlfriend Shirlee Rothermal were staying on his houseboat on Lake Lanier north of Atlanta. After an argument between the couple, Erion said he left the boat to go a nearby restaurant. When he returned Rothermal had disappeared. She was later found dead in the lake.
The case generated considerable local news coverage and discussion.
It was one of the last local stories Sean Hannity covered on his WGST radio show prior to his leaving the Atlanta market for New York.
During these last Atlanta broadcasts Hannity used every opportunity to promote the idea that Erion had to be responsible for Rothermal’s disappearance/death, opine on his guilt and push for his arrest despite the lack of any evidence. Hannity’s relentless slander and character assassination of Erion, apparently based on innuendo, gossip and assumption, still astounds me.
The police investigation determined that after Erion left the houseboat for the restaurant, Rothermel, who had been drinking, apparently fell overboard and drowned.
Erion was ultimately cleared of any involvement in Rothermel’s death.
According to a story in Atlanta magazine in 2000, Erion told the magazine he was still haunted by that night. “It’s not my fault, but I still feel responsible” he said.
Erion died at 71 in 2017.
I’ve not believed anything Hannity has said since.
Hannity behaved like a typical ambitious newsy !
