The Minnesota Vikings and assistant coach Rick Dennison have parted ways after the coach refused to get a COVID-19 vaccine, according to ESPN on Friday. He is believed to be the first position coach to move on from his team because of the vaccine.
The move comes a day after an NFL memo revealed that teams will be forced to forfeit if there is a COVID-19 outbreak resulting from unvaccinated players. The rule was set to encourage players and coaches to receive the vaccine.
Any staff member who is labeled a “Tier 1” member is required to receive the vaccine. The league has also said that any unvaccinated Tier 1 member has to provide a religious or medical reason to not receive it. If they don’t, they would be stripped of their top-tier status and would face extreme protocols throughout the season. Only Tier 1 members can be on the field and in the meeting room with their players.

answering @Flick Lives question:
I mentioned in another thread I believe the NFL rule is not enforceable. How would one know where the outbreak started?
And they still have rules if a jabbed player gets the bug again (we all KNOW this is going to happen #Yankees), which person gets the blame?
If I’m a team owner - magic ! everyone’s been vaxxed (I did it myself).
Let’s wait for the first A-list player to give the NFL the middle finger and see what happens.
(with my lunch, it’ll be from my team)
You don’t know his reasons. Judge not.
I wonder what relevant language is in some contracts. I imagine some players have language in their contract that assures them they won’t be forced to have some medical procedure, just because the team doctor/s want it.
Could you elaborate on what this means?
A problem in the NFL?
NFL...NFL...I kinda remember something about NFL...
The NFL just had major layoffs. As a private partnership the public is not able to examine the books. Inside info says they took a $4 billion revenue hit last year.
Oh, I agree that it is his choice. But we do judge people all the time. There would be no forum here if we didn’t judge people. I wish him well but I don’t agree with his decision.
I am talking about female athletes having to compete against biological males. I think giving up a medal you would have earned if a man wasn’t competing in your category is a sacrifice. I feel sorry for those young athletes. But in the future, not so much, because the rules have changed. No point in beating a dead horse.
I hope he sues and wins big.
I see grounds for a law suit.
There is no vaccine.. Just experimental drugs with many known side effects.
Sue the dog excrement out of them.
The Vikes and the NFL used to be “Tier-1”. Oh vell.
That would be my question.
They are blaming the new outbreaks on unvaccinated people. But of course, no talk about how a vaccinated person can still catch the disease.
Only the dudes..........
Is BLM as a religion an excuse?
Is Taking a Knee, Kapernick-style a religious excuse?
Good for him…we should have some freedom left…the jab doesn’t protect and there are lots of indications that it is very harmful…
