I’m always a bit amused at the brokers on TV hyping that silver is about to go to $100 an ounce or something of that sort. They’ve been pitching that for more than a decade and the price of silver has hardly moved.

I agree with that. Once people figure out basic survival a lot of people will be looking for a hard currency. Not fiat and not digital

“So in a SHTF scenario if the internet is down and you can’t just look it up, how do you determine the current value of a given gold or silver coin?”

You shouldn’t be doing anything like that as long as it’s max mad SHTF world. You hold it until afterwards, when society rebuilds and have the ability to buy into the new economy at that point.

I don’t know what to believe anymore. I’ve been hearing this same story since the 80’s.

The politicians have been kicking the can down the road since then, but IMO, they've just entered a cul-de-sac.

Get ye into physical gold or silver (if you can't hold it in your hands, you don't own it). The central banks hate competition and have been suppressing/manipulating their prices to make the stock market look good. Behind the scenes, they have been Hoovering it up for their own reserves as a CYA. Even Brazil has just bought 80 tonnes.

I suspect that "The Great Reset" isn't political (although they'll try) but financial, as bankrupted nations go back to a gold-backed currency to restore faith in the system.

That makes sense, not that I have a hole lot. But I was thinking maybe junk dimes for purchasing things like perishables.

“This Is The Biggest Bubble I’ve Seen In My Career” – Dems’ Infrastructure Spending Could Lead To Devastating Crash, Druck Warns

"Any further stimulus spending is intended to fix a problem that, in Druck’s words, “doesn’t exist anymore.” He added: “If I was Darth Vader and I wanted to destroy the US economy, I would do aggressive spending in the middle of an already hot economy.”

>>Interesting story last week that Russia is actually running budget surplus.<<

Not sure what that means in the whole scheme of global economics. Texas has a larger economy than Russia and we too have a budget surplus and a “rainy day fund” also known as the Economic Stabilization Fund around $11 billion.

Texas also created the Texas Gold Depository in which folks can safeguard their assets. There is also a movement toward again making gold and silver legal tender in the state. Hope this happens soon.

>>I’m convinced that what is coming is more than just a correction. I do believe we are looking at a 1929 situation. It’s going to be terrible.<<

I don’t know what’s going to happen, but my gut tells me you’re right...it’s going to be terrible.

Top two largest employers in the country are Walmart and Amazon...both sale primarily foreign produced goods. Our manufacturing base has been decimated.

Over the last few decades, those who are awake (not woke) witnessed the largest transfer of wealth in world history from the American middle class to the communist Chinese.

It is shameful. Shameful when the communist threaten the U.S. to withhold life saving drugs when they perceive we’re being confrontational regarding the Wu-Flu and it’s origins. Shameful our countries leaders allowed our supply chains to be dominated by our adversary.

Someday...those chickens are gonna come home to roost.

Here is an old but true saying.

When interest rates are high, stocks will die.
When interest rates are low, stocks will grow.
What have they been doing?

So, they will never raise the rates and like the other poster who replied to me said. The common person will have to carry baskets full of cash to purchase goods.

They cant raise rates. They know it and that is why they are making all kinds of excuses for not doing it.

Low interest rates and high inflation. That goes for a while and then the collapse.
Stockmans been yelling this for years and years and never was there a real reason for what he predicted, until Obama took over and doubled the debt, which was already to high under GW Bush.

Yes, yes. I can see those fierce patriots of San Francisco and Denver preventing the gov from barging into their homes, shouting ‘From my cold, dead fingers!’ and ‘The tree of liberty needs a drink!’ Can’t you? Oh? You can’t? Dream on..

i don’t get this talk of MASSIVE bubbles in securities ... when biden stole office, the Dow was at about 31,000; today it’s about 35,000, about a 13% increase ... whether that’s warranted or not who knows, but it’s NOT some gigantic bubble price that’s gonna come crashing down because it’s some gigantic bubble price ...

I don’t know what to tell you. Its an uncertain short term future. I think you can hold property in a retirement account. Check with your accountant.

The divide in this nation is just too wide, not sure how we could ever bridge it. I remember in the Ronald Reagan days, it seemed there was more compromise.

Mark Levin just released a book called American Marxism. You've probably heard of it. So, here we are.

I suspect there are millions of conservatives that would rather divide the nation than to live under this sort of social/economic model.

Think about Biden's latest comments regarding 9mm handguns. So, it's not just the feared AR-15’s any longer, it now includes any weapon. Instead of focusing on the illegal alien / hood rat gang issue causing the majority of gun related crimes...he focuses on you...me.

They cause the issue by promoting poverty, open borders, segregationist racial politics...then blame law abiding folks.

So, I see a future that is headed to a bad place unless we can turn it around.

It just seems that the more the left gets control, the tighter they grip things and the harder it will be to wrest any of it back. The left doesn’t cede ground taken, any more than Muslims do. If we tried to get back to the way things were under Bush, or even Trump, they would burn the country to the ground in a scorched earth policy.
And the longer we stay at the ‘new’ left position, the more the young folk get used to it as the norm.
My kid who is very conservative for a college student, thinks I am too far to the right.

>>The left doesn't cede ground taken,... If we tried to get back to the way things were under Bush, or even Trump, they would burn the country to the ground in a scorched earth policy.<<

This is kinda what I was eluding to previously. People are getting fed up. There is a silent majority, may not seem so, but there is. The 73+- million people who voted for Trump, the tea party folks and the like.

If the left keeps marching on...at some point there will be no other choice but violence. I hate that for our nation, but it's just a reality.

This nation has the most well armed population on the planet aside from war torn countries. The leftist are just as well armed as the folks on the right.

Make no mistake...the left pushes and pushes gun control, but when this happens, they will be the only ones with guns. Count on it.

So, where does this all lead? Hmmmm! Going back to the original point of the thread, people are prepping. Whether be it food, ammo, meds, gold/silver...whatever, cuz they feel it. Folks feel trouble ahead.

Its not for use during the crisis. If youre flashing it around and theres any degree of lawlessness then someone sneaks up and shoots you in the head next time youre out in the yard and take it for themselves.

Gold is something you hide until things stabilize. It gives those that have it, maybe not you but your descendants, a place in that economy.

Just about anything else that can be stored long term is a better medium of trade during the crisis.
