As COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to rise in California — mainly driven by the spread of the more contagious delta variant among unvaccinated people — Gov. Gavin Newsom has mostly been quiet on whether the state would reimpose certain restrictions.
He has previously stated that a new statewide indoor mask mandate (as recommended and required by some counties) is unnecessary if vaccinations continue to increase. However, with vaccination rates slowing down, some have suggested implementing mandatory vaccine passports — or requiring proof of vaccination to enter certain businesses or events — to compel unvaccinated people to get the vaccine. California has the digital infrastructure in place for such a policy, as the state launched a digital vaccination verification system in June.
"We have among some of the highest vaccination rates in the United States but it's still not good enough," Newsom said the first time he was asked. "We're very mindful of the delta variant and its spread. ... The most important thing we can do to get this pandemic behind us is to get vaccinated. So I want to encourage everyone who isn't vaccinated to get vaccinated."
"As it relates to the issue of [vaccine passports], it's unnecessary if we continue to see an increase in vaccinations," he said when a follow-up was asked. "We're among the top 10 states, I think we're 11th in single doses, and I want to encourage people who are unvaccinated to get vaccinated."

I don’t know if this surprises anyone, but we used to have to show vaccine passports in the old days if you traveled internationally. I have one from the Seventies that I actually came across a few weeks ago when cleaning up some old records. It listed which vaccinations I had received and was certified by my then doctor. I know I specifically had to have it to travel to countries in Europe.
He’s not going to do anything until after the recall in September.
Sorry, I think it was on a State Department form. I found it tucked in with my old expired passport from that period.

But we were required to have genuine vaccines for genuine diseases - not some wonky and dangerous Emergency Use Authorization concoction where we were the test guinea pigs for a relatively mild disease.

Not to be confrontational, but we had that situation here for a long time. It was called your Draft Card. Under federal law, you had to carry your Draft Card with you at all times. We were told early on to make sure to always have that in your wallet, because a favorite tactic of the police to hassle you was to ask you to produce your Draft Card, and if you didn’t have it they would give you a hard time or even arrest you.
Burning your Draft Card was viewed as a direct challenge to the government, which is why it became a thing during the Vietnam War.
Recall this Deep State tyrant. Can’t wait to vote his butt out of office on 9/14!
