And the revellers shared one thing … huge beaming grins as they supped their first pints by the welcoming, polished wooden bar.
It felt wonderful to stride to the counter and chat to staff as you watched your frothy ice-cold beer fill up your crystal clear glass.
And to finally actually hear the banter among the replete customers, all eschewing their facemasks, was a joy in the cool, shaded lounge.
Station regular Damian explained: "Freedom Day has brought life back.
"It's great to see small, community pubs like this finally full and the landlord grinning as he chats over the bar again."

Freedom Day in the UK a big misnomer since the government announced that vaccine passports will be required in September to go to venues with large crowds like nightclubs..

Good for him and to each his own.
I’ve never been in the custom of heavy beer drinking.
I prefer a shot of vodka, or moscato, or OUZO on special occasions.
Back when I was young, I tried several types of beer, light, dark, malts etc. But at no time did I ever sit down and drink a full pint of beer. I do recall when I was in Leith, Scotland during my Navy years, and I tried some of their beer.
It was room temperature, but nobody was complaining about it.
Boris Johnson ordered vaccination as the price for admission to nightclubs on Monday as well.
Vaccine Passports do not equal Freedom Day.
Johnson’s lockdown was wrong and Americans who love freedom should remember what he and his government did then and plan to do in the future with the vaxx to go to a nightclub policy.
A lot of drama in the UK over Dominic Cummings as well in the last day or so.
Drama distraction from this new vaccine passport policy.

Pubs are a very important part of a lot of Brits lives.
Pathetic....
I’ve worked quite a bit in the UK and pubs are high among what I miss most. They are a great, quiet place to unwind with a cool pint and maybe a bite to eat.
Dogs are welcome and the patrons, unlike Americans, are not uncomfortable of a bit of silence. Conversation is constrained and boisterous behavior is looked at askance.
No annoying jukeboxes to be found!
ice-cold beer?
I don’t drink but i thought they drank warm beer in England.
Most pubs will have one or two kegged beers that are CO2 pressurized and chilled like American beer. Usually Stella and something like Amstel.
The traditional cask ales are kept cool in a basement and pumped up by hand into a pint glass. I was surprised how enjoyable and drinkable they are.
My favorite American beers are Yuengling Lager and Shiner Bock as they do not suffer taste difference as they become warmer. Newcastle Brown Ale is my go-to import.
My Brit buddy refers to American beers as near frozen gnat’s piss.
