BEIJING, July 20 (Reuters) - China unveiled a maglev train capable of a top speed of 600 kph on Tuesday, state media said.
The maximum speed would make the train, self-developed by China and manufactured in the coastal city of Qingdao, the fastest ground vehicle globally.
Using electro-magnetic force, the maglev train "levitates" above the track with no contact between body and rail.

That’s the thing...people don’t enjoy this kind of travel. It may be fast but people won’t use it. People who take trains typically enjoy the ride...at least nominally. You can sit down for dinner, etc. while taking your trip. Not so with a train like this.
This is primarily for business people who have to travel.
Notice in your link, they did sell it to China.
—”The only commercial implementation so far was in the year 2000, when the Chinese government ordered a Transrapid track to be built connecting Shanghai to its Pudong”
A nice tour of the working Japanese SCMaglev.

On 21 April 2015, a manned seven-car L0 Series SCMaglev train reached a speed of 603 km/h
The Fastest train ever built | The complete physics of it
Magnetically levitated trains are common nowadays. However, the MagLev train the Central Japan Railway Company developed is quite unique and superior to the other trains. Running at more than 600 km per hour, it has achieved the status of ‘fastest train.’ This train uses superconducting magnets, which is why it is called SC MagLev. Once charged with an exciting current, the superconducting magnets of this train produce a circulating DC current and strong magnetic field forever, with zero loss. Let’s understand more about this successfully tested train technology, which is projected to overtake other magnetic levitation technologies by the year 2027. The same technology is poised to connect New York city to Washington DC in just one hour by 2030.
Thanks - wasn’t aware of the Japanese project (but those are not called Bullet Trains, are they?).
Yeah, China has had the Transrapid for 20 years, and now they build their own that they “developed all by themselves”...uh-huh.
Copper reacts to magnetic fields. The penny will slow the train down, but remain intact!
Have often wondered what the fare cost is for the maglev...
Sometimes when the train runs over the penny, it will get flung away from the track at a very high rate of speed, taking out the eye or worse if the offending person is still standing around in close proximity to see what happens.
Little tiny pieces...scattered over a wide area...
cost to ride is about $8 US
Will it work under 5 meters of water?
