Award is excessive. Should have been awarded 1 year salary. 3 years at most.

She may be entitled to some compensation, depending on the details.
I believe 125 million dollars is far too much.

How much money would a child with Down’s syndrome be due if he or she were unfairly terminated by their parents?

Eighteen months of Biden and $125 million might be able to purchase a Big Mac.

Anyone below IQ 83 consumes as much as they produce. She should pay Walmart back for all the babysitting they did.
To: deek69
She won’t be getting all that.
Her greedy, leech lawyers will take their cut for sure.

punitive. wow, although maybe walmart needed to be taught a lesson, thinking that they could get away with something just because an employee has down’s syndrome. making an example is half of the purpose of punishment.

Actually, it is the lawyers who are getting away with something.

That is the starting amount. Now the lawyers will negotiate.

1/3 + "expenses"

The intent was to punish Walmart, not about paying her a fair compensation. A year’s salary or 10 year’s wouldn’t have made a dent. And a liberal jury just found the opportunity to stick it Walmart .

I’ll bet you a dollar or a donut that the so-called lady was a plant sent there by a law firm to create a new class of victims.

It appears that the $125m award was just for show:
“Walmart said the verdict would be reduced to $300,000, which under federal law is the statutory maximum for punitive and compensatory damages.”
After her lawyer gets the usual 1/3’rd, that will leave her with $200,000. I assume that she will also get her job back, along with her original work schedule.

And an appeals court will probably agree.

Just goes to show you that juries in the modern world are all political liberals who too stupid to serve on juries. Any reasonable person would never award someone 25 times what a normal person would make in an entire lifetime. That is not justice. That is stupidity. And Walmart customers will be the ones to pay for it. Although as someone said the fine will be greatly reduced.
