Not an exaggeration. I’ve dealt with people just like this, no idea what they’re talking about they just make up whatever they feel like saying.
If you contradict him with facts he’ll act like you’re a fool and say “well of course!”
In other words, he's a career US Senator. Senators say BS all day, every day and everyone just rolls their eyes and moves on. He still thinks he's a Senator (He's said so!) and so he keeps just saying BS like nobody will notice or remember it tomorrow.
