Thanks.
Let’s have more suggestions from more people. What are some GOOD movies you’ve seen in the last couple of years?
Finding the good stuff can be hard, because there is so much garbage being promoted by the industry. That leads a lot of people to tune out the whole business. I was among those who had written off Hollywood for many years; I would take my kids to the then-current, basically-ok kid’s movies, but it had been a looooong time since I’d watched anything for myself.
Then I made an accidental discovery from an entirely unexpected angle of approach. I thought “how did a movie this good — on something about which I was reflexively interested — get made, and I never even heard of it?” I started poking around, and I’ve found that movies are fun again. But there’s some due diligence needed at the front end.
Current and ongoing The Chosen is worth watching.

I understand a movie, Nomadland, I think, is good, but it’s sad. I’m not into sad movies anymore, with real life so much so.

The ones about training your Dragon
Anything by/with Caviezal, such as Infidel. I’m a fan and respect his work.
“Chernobyl” was an HBO series about 2 years ago. Very good. I watched the DVDs from my local library.
We've gravitated to foreign films, mostly Asian like Korean and Japanese. You won't see hardly any wokeness there. Some have English dubbing, but many are subtitled in English. We don't mind, and find a lot of good content, mostly on Netflix. The plus side is not seeing token blacks and gays thrust into the story for wokeness effect. They do have occasional white actors, but mostly as part of the story line (interpreters, teachers, relations overseas, etc.). Very refreshing not to see the filth from Hollywood.
I recommend a new movie called DREAM HORSE, which is based on a true story. We saw it at a theater, and we loved the cast & the story.
