NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- The Yankees' post-All-Star break opener against the Boston Red Sox had to be postponed because of positive COVID-19 tests among six New York Yankees players. It's not yet known if Friday's game will be canceled too.
Pitchers Jonathan Loaisiga, Nestor Cortes Jr., and Wandy Peralta tested positive, and later Aaron Judge, Kyle Higashioka, and Gio Urshela.
All-star outfielder Judge had just played in an All-Star game in Denver on Tuesday before testing positive, raising concerns he may have exposed players on other teams.
In fact, the Yankees were the first team to hit the MLB's 85% vaccination threshold needed to relax their COVID protocols.

Also, there isn't any comment on the players' symptoms. Are they even symptomatic? My guess is none of them are...and none of them likely will be. The PCR tests have been notoriously unreliable.

Bring up some triple or double A players, put them in pin stripes and PLAY BALL!

Last year didn’t they have a special rule to rotate players into the roster due to COVID positives? I’m guessing they did away with that this year?
I believe the the 10-day COVID reserve list is still in effect. Unlike the regular 10-day injured reserve list, the COVID list doesn’t have a fixed minimum. IOW, it can be six or seven days or less depending on how the testing goes.

If I had a positive COVID test and no symptoms, I'd be on the field without any hesitation. That doesn't mean the team management won't have the final say in the matter.

They canceled because multiple Yankee players had tested positive for covid. There were no (ZERO) Red Sox players that tested positive for covid.
They should have played the game minus those players.

Considering a 99% chance that you won’t die without the vaccine, I would say that is a sure bet.
