Cuba hit its low point in the early ‘90s, when the Soviets and East Germans left. They were unimaginably poor. They literally had nothing, and only government shills ate well, yet the younger generation was still committed to the system. It was the older cohort that had lived through the Revolution who were cynical and guardedly disillusioned. Since then, Cuba has opened up and become relatively prosperous. The irony is that this awakening, this taste of what could be, has lead to a general disaffection with the repressive government, more than existed when Cubans were suffering from near starvation.
After 62 years of building Communism, Cuba lives should be far ahead above the USA. They should not be worried about any sanctions and instead enjoying theirs Communist Paradise, where everybody has everything!
