"If you go back to the original Insider article that is cited in this article, it is not at all clear whether he actually purchased any guns after January 6."

If you go back to the original CraPo article it lays out the story fairly well, for CraPo:

"But Judge G. Michael Harvey’s release conditions were clear: Robertson could not own any firearms, destructive devices or dangerous weapons while his case was pending. If he owned any guns, he must relocate them within two days.

Days after his release, authorities found eight firearms at his home in Ferrum, Va., according to court documents. The judge gave Robertson a second chance, reminding him of his release conditions.

Then, last month, authorities found a loaded M4 carbine and a partially assembled pipe bomb while conducting an authorized search at his home, court records state. Robertson is also accused of buying 34 firearms online and “transporting them in interstate commerce while under felony indictment,” prosecutors said.

The owner of Tactical Operations, FFL broker in Roanoke...told agents Robertson had 34 firearms waiting for him at the store...Robertson said he could not keep the guns at his home because of his current bond conditions, adding that Robertson had been in the store to handle several of the weapons as recently as one week earlier."

That article does provide a lot more facts, but it still is not clear that he purchased any firearms after January 6.

They do not say when he bought them online, just that he is accused of “transporting them in interstate commerce while under felony indictment.” That could simply mean that he ordered them before January 6 and that they were shipped from the manufacturer to the dealer after January 6. Yeah, I am parsing words, but so are the FBI and the media.

He clearly screwed up by not turning over all of his firearms to someone else to hold immediately after he was released. The first time the FBI searched his house and found 8 firearms was only two days after the court's deadline to turn over possession of his firearms to someone else. That could be excused as simply being slow or a dumbass. Apparently, that is how the judge construed it, because the judge gave him "a second chance, reminding him of his release conditions."

When he still had possession of an M4 Carbine last month it was a clear violation of the release conditions. If he also had an actual partially assembled pipe bomb (and not just plumbing parts) and he purchased 34 guns after he was released, then he is toast.

I am still unconvinced on those points. It could simply be the FBI bolstering the allegations against him (GASP, I'm shocked, shocked I tell you) or it could be that he is a genuine dangerous dumbass that needs to be locked up.
