Republicans in the Texas State House voted 76-4 on Tuesday to arrest the runaway Democrats who fled to Washington D.C. to break the quorum and block the passage of Governor Greg Abbott's voting rights bills.
'Members, a sergeant-at-arms and any officer appointed by him are directed to send for all absentees whose attendance is not excused for the purpose of securing and maintaining their attendance under warrant of arrest if necessary,' Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan announced from the State House floor.
Texas House rules allow the sergeant-at-arms to arrest members who are not present at the Capitol for a vote – and the show of disapproval Tuesday could result in the lawmakers' arrest when they land back in the Lone Star State.
The Tuesday, however, vote doesn't hold much weight as long as the Democrats remain in Washington since by crossing state lines they have escaped jurisdiction of Texas law enforcement.
The group maintains that they aren't afraid of Governor Abbott's threats to arrest them for fleeing the state to break a quorum and avoid voting on Republicans ' election legislation.

I recommend solitary confinement until the 1/6 patriots are released.
Send them to real jail. See how willing they are to stay there.
They must be really dumb, they won’t be “in jail”
They will be locked up in the government until they finish their JOB.
Because they think it is a f-ing joke and look at it as acquiring street ‘cred’.
“Oooohhhh look, I got arrested by those big scawy Republicans.”
Make them pay for the cost of their own private planes (because you KNOW that WE the taxpayer paid for them) and pay for the costs associated for their arrests.
This isn’t a joke. This is our country!
These Dems better not be voting for the Green New Deal if they fly on private jets.
They are single handedly making global warming worse with this stunt.
Prisoner exchange. Send the patriots to Texas and the Democrats can stay in DC.
I can’t believe republicans haven’t gotten rid of this ridiculous quorum requirement by now! The libs pulled this stunt during the last redistricting (fled to okalahoma that time). The Texas constitution is fairly easy to amend, and should be amended to never EVER allow a stunt like this going forward.
The dems know that their reward in democrat party heaven will be great, even if they are fined, arrested, or kicked out of office. For their bravery the dems will give them as a reward a highly paid, low effort job for the rest of their lives.
This is standard procedure. We will never hear of them again, but they’ll be raking in the bucks at a pretend job. So they don’t care!
Sounds like an Insurrection run by Insurrectionists.
The FIB should lock them up in the DC jails.
I am told Texas legislators make about 10K a year.
If possible and if necessary put a lien on that salary to pay these costs.
Grant their wish.
Will they be put In solitary confinement like they did the peaceful Capitol protestors?
This must be incorrect. Surely these liberals wouldn’t do any thing that would hurt the planet and we all know private jets hurt a lot more than commercial.
I would strongly advise these anarchists to buy a house in DC and stay there forever, until they are voted out of office or die. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
Not so!!! From the Texas House Rules, Rule 5, Section 8: "All absentees for whom no sufficient excuse is made may, by order of a majority of those present, be sent for and arrested, wherever they may be found, by the sergeant-at-arms or an officer appointed by the sergeant-at-arms for that purpose, and their attendance shall be secured and retained." [emphasis added]
Freeze their Texas bank accounts. Institute daily fines. Message to the GOP, if you fail in this your party is DOA and a new one will rise. Republican voters have had it with leadership.
Call Duane Chapman. He only needs to bag a few to make a quorum. Arrest the ones still in Texas.
