A parachutist from Camp Roberts torpedoed through the roof of a Southern California home and into the interior of the house, authorities said.
The man, who was reportedly a British soldier in the midst of a training exercise, dealt with a chute that didn’t fully open before he plunged through the house in Atascadero just before 5 p.m. July 6, police said in a news release.
“The parachutist was conscious but stunned with complaints of pain but no visible serious injuries,” the Atascadero Police Department said in a recent news release.
“The occupants of the residence were not home at the time and therefore were uninjured.”
The homeowner’s mother told KSBY that there wasn’t much damage in the house when he landed inside — apparently in the kitchen.
“It’s amazing,” Linda Sallady said. “It’s mostly the ceiling, the sheetrock. He missed the counters, appliances, everything.”
Neighbor Rose Martin called his survival a miracle.
“I mean, who lands like that without a parachute and lives?” Martin told the station.
Everyone else in the jump landed at a designated spot, Atascadero police said.
The soldier was part of a British military unit, the Tribune News Service reported.

Now that’s some serious “Breaking And Entering”! (sorry....couldn’t resist)
Maybe the homeowner invited him for dinner
The chance of a soldier parachuting thru a roof of a house is astronomical, but the chance of it happening twice in infinitely small.
I hate it when people pop in unexpectedly like that.
Where’s all the bits of plywood and sheetrock and insulation?
Jolly good show, old boy. :)
I wonder if there is an exclusion for this on their homeowners insurance.

“Hi. Home insurance agency? You’re not going to believe this one.”
Instead of tending to him they took a selfie with him?
And he missed the rafters? I don’t know. I’m suspicious.
He did too...............just not the same one...............
I just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in.
Sounds like a great commercial for Farmer’s Insurance and J.K. Simmons, we have seen a thing or two.
There’s something on the floor behind them................
And I see some pieces of Spanish Tile.................
Time to call Christine.................
....was it here yesterday, or another site....labeled this
an example of a HANO jump - “High Altitude No Opening”...??
If the rafters were 24” apart and he fell in-line and not with his body perpendicular he’d probably fall through.
Tell the Brits to clean up their garbage and get out of our country.
