My late mother-in-law had a similar reaction when she got to know a few ‘shvartzes’. In shocked disbelief she exclaimed, “they’re human beings!” What else was she expecting? Same thing with this bozo.
I guess that’s what they mean by “culture” shock”. I’ve done a bit of traveling throughout the US and parts of Canada. And although I always took note of the cultural differences, I was never surprised or put off by them. If there’s one benefit to growing up in NYC, it’s that you’re exposed to the good, bad and ugly of various peoples amd cultures. As a result, nothing shocks you.
