LBJ instead picks someone like Sen. John Sherman Cooper for VP.
LeMay still nukes Hanoi, perhaps in LBJ's 100 days, as payback for Tet, and also to prevent LBJ from engaging in peace talks.
Further, Nixon would not be nearly as likely to derail those peace talks as a retired President, as he actually did derail in 1968 as the GOP candidate, when Johnson was a true lame duck.

I am no authority but have read the Constitution several times over the years. The Constitution is silent on election fraud conspiracies as we are witnessing. But I think it is clear that those issues not specifically laid out in the Constitution for the federal government, fall into the purview of the various States to resolve.
If I am correct then the Constitution is not a “broken mess.”
